The entire crowd whoops and hollers for my girl and her team, and it makes me feel fucking amazing.
Now all I gotta do is protect my quarterback for one more quarter and we’ll keep this undefeated season going!

Tonight has been an insane experience, and it’s not over yet.
Now that I’m one of the few humans that know shifters exist, everything has changed. I’m part of the group. My team has scooped me up and added me to everything without a hitch. Like I hadn’t been left out of practically everything up to this point.
Was excluding me as hard on them as it was on me?
Shaking the negativity away, I focus on the now. My team is still squealing and chatting away happily around me after we were recognized by the Rays and given jerseys. Even Coach got one of Kodi’s jerseys, and she has shoulder bumped me a few times in a way that says she’s happy for me.
Now, Kodi’s finally going back on the field to hold off the other team so they can win this game.
The ball is snapped. The quarterback drops back looking for a line. He must see one because he’s locked in, winding back to throw a long bomb down the field. The entire stadium’s vision swivels to follow the ball but mine is immediately snapped back when I feel it.
Kodi roars—like actually roars—and I scream as his pain soars down our bond and up my neck like a strike of lightning.
The crowd, referees and the announcers are going crazy.
“Did you see that, John?!”
“I can’t believe it!”
“The Talons came in with a late hit against Northerly’s head and he’s down.”
“He’s not moving.”
“The medics are racing onto the field.”
My vision begins to blur. My team and coaches are trying to talk to me, but I can’t hear anything. I’m swaying on my feet. The panic is consuming me.
“Keep breathing. I got you, ” I faintly hear, and I think I’m being tugged.
“Come on. I’ll get you to him.”
But I still can’t get my body to move. I can’t even breathe.
“Move your ass, Red. I got you.” Coach’s bark finally breaks through the hysteria and grounds me as she leads me through the throng of people.
Mars comes running up to the side of the stands. “Here, she can come with me! I’ll take her!” he yells at Coach who looks at me questioningly.
All I can do is nod.
Coach lifts me and physically hands me to Mars like I weigh nothing at all.Werewolvesare freaking strong.
Mars sets me on my feet and we’re off.
Kodi, baby. Can you hear me?
Nothing.
“Why isn’t he answering me?” I whisper to Mars who is still leading me toward the tunnel.
He doesn’t say anything either. His face focused on getting me to my mate, his best friend. “Carrie. Is Carrie here?” I ask.
