I had an urgency in my gut, pulling me, I hoped in the direction Billie might be. However, the world was big, and we could be traveling for days to get to her because I had no set idea where she was. All I knew was that it was north and to keep moving where my gut said to go.

Fortunately, Lila was in the back seat with Daniel and Lance, working on a locator spell. I heard her swear behind me.

“What’s going on?” I asked, turning slightly.

Lila looked down at a large electronic tablet on her lap showing a map of the greater New York area that she was using to do a locator spell on Billie. Her finger circled the screen, clutching a necklace of Billie’s in her hand. “I should be able to find her, but Chilli is hiding her well. We’re in New York, we tried her house, and that’s not it. You sure your gut can’t just tell us where to teleport?”

I let out a loud sigh. I wish it could. The best I could do was get us teleported to New York City where my body’s nerves were on alarm. She was here, I just didn’t know where.

Daniel was able to secure us a car, and we began to drive from there, just going off my random directions.

“They’re going to claim her if we don’t get to her in time,” I muttered after Billie fed me bits and pieces of her conversation with Chilli.

Lance growled in the back. “That won’t happen.”

Before I could say anything, my body tensed. Excruciating pain followed as if every bone in my body was breaking. I gripped the door, bracing myself for the wave of pain that kept attacking me. “She’s hurt,” I said through gritted teeth. “Hurt bad.”

Kai pressed his foot on the gas, but I knew it wouldn’t be fast enough.

Lila looked back down at her tablet. “Chilli won’t kill her. She needs her. That doesn’t mean she won’t cause her pain.”

Daniel adjusted in his seat next to her, his face solemn. I knew he was just as worried as the rest of us, but he was holding it together, so we didn’t all go bat shit crazy. “What are our other options? The location spell isn’t working, and if Billie is injured, we don’t want to take forever driving to wherever.”

He very much had a point, and the pain I was feeling was bordering on nauseating. I could only imagine how Billie was holding up, and that gave me even more anxiety. “You sure we can’t break through Chilli’s cloaking ward?”

Lila shook her head. “I tried a decloaking spell. It’s hard to do when you aren’t in the vicinity of what’s being hidden. The location spell is the best bet, and it can bypass a cloaking spell if the caster has enough power. Clearly, I don’t. I’m an ice mage, so this isn’t my specialty.”

That gave me a thought. “You need a boost.”

“How can I do that?”

Kai perked up, adjusting in his seat. “Work it like a Ouija board. You can contact spirts that way, and the more powerful the summoners touching the planchette, the more likely the ability to make a connection. You’re surrounded by four alphas, one of which is bonded to her. Let’s all touch that necklace and boost your power, woman.”

He swerved to the side, stopping the car in front of a closed grocery store.

“You think that’ll work?” I asked through painful breaths. I was half listening, half trying not to scream from the pain. Thoughts of Billie writhing in agony made me claw at the leather interior.

Kai shrugged, putting the breaks on and adjusting so that he could reach behind him. “Who knows?”

We silently all touched the necklace with our fingers as Lila began reciting her location spell. There was nothing at first, but soon, the bracelet moved to the top right corner. The map expanded and shifted. It was taking us out of town, further north. We kept silently watching the map change until it narrowed down to an exact street and address.

Lila leaned in lower. “This is the Hamptons. She has a house in the damn Hamptons.”

I looked to Daniel with urgency. “Teleport us there.”

I wasn’t going to let another omega down. I would save Billie

Getting in the house was easier than I thought. Daniel and Lila worked together to break the ward, which had been weakened. Still, I could feel Billie’s pain.

Once we broke down the door, thanks to Lance’s strength, we were greeted by guards. I didn’t have time to fight through them. I had to get to the basement. To Billie.

Daniel tilted his head to me. “Go to her.”

I raced past the men with my vampire speed but was pulled back by my shirt. I turned slightly to see a red-headed male, fangs descended. Another vampire, of course, he would match my speed.

He quickly stumbled forward and fell to the ground, Daniel on his back, pressing him down with a knee. “Go!” my alpha fae yelled, his body changing to his full white-haired form. He meant to do some serious damage if he was dropping his glamour. Good.
