Please don’t let another car come in here now.I looked forward and the demon raced toward me in front of my car. It was surprisingly fast. It was practically gliding toward me. I quickly shifted my car into drive and pressed down on the gas. My plan was to run the sucker over, but it was actually not incredibly stupid, and it jumped on top of my car. Of course, it would.
I bared my teeth as it scratched its talons into the hood of my car. I didn’t know if demon attacks were covered on my car insurance. Assuming I survived. I guess it was time to break my ward and take a chance. I wasn’t going to wait around for Lance to come and save the day.
I inhaled and clapped my hands, whispering a spell to drop my ward. Then I quickly pushed out my hands just as the demon smashed through the window. The demon flew back, landing on the concrete several feet away. I got out of the car, wrapping my magic around the creature. It floated in the air, and I tossed it from wall to wall, smashing it hard until I was certain bones were breaking.
A boulder crashed into my back, sending me to the ground. Okay, it was not a boulder. It was another demon. It looked very much like the other green one, except it was heavily bruised and bloodied, one arm hanging limply to the side. Now it was two against one. Not cool.
I pushed my wind spell magic against it, sending it to the opposite end of the level, and I got up, looking for the other demon. Naturally, he was no longer where I left him, and I turned in a circle just in time to see the demon projectile vomit green sludge at me. I jumped to the side but it hit my shoulder, burning through my coat and shirt until it reached my skin.
I screamed in agony as searing pain went deep into my muscle. I placed my hand over the wound and quickly pushed my healing magic there. But I didn’t have much time to tend to it as both demons were racing toward me. I shot out arrows of fire with a spell at both creatures like bullets, only catching some parts of their bodies as they dodged and weaved. Still, fire was fire, and it burned them. One, I caught in the face, and as it smacked at its head, I tapped my fist together, slamming the demon to the ground. It tried to get up, but I turned my hands in a twisting motion and recited an attack spell, breaking its legs.
The other one tackled me to the ground, my face pushed into the concrete, cutting it. I struggled beneath it, but it felt like a car was sitting on me. My breath was cut short, and I felt I would soon pass out. Only I didn’t because seconds later, the weight was lifted.
Lance twisted the head off the massive demon. His eyes blazed topaz, his bloodied mouth full of sharp teeth and fangs. His hands held talons the size of my fingers. He wasn’t in his werewolf form. He was something in between, but he was just as horrifying. He had pointed ears and a brown furry face and body that was taller and wider than he was in human form.
He raced to the other demon on the ground as the monster struggled to get up, its broken legs healing. Lance then lifted a foot and stomped on the head with such force he cracked the demon’s skull in one blow. Only he kept stomping again and again.
I struggled to my feet, my face and shoulder throbbing with pain. I’d seen some gross things as a doctor, but I didn’t need to be tested like this. “I think it’s dead. I think they’re all dead now.”
Lance looked over to me, his eyes wild with rage. I took a hesitant step back, afraid. He stormed over to me and looked me over, growling at my face and shoulder wounds. He leaned into me, and I tried with all my might to stand my ground. The werewolf was looking a bit feral, all bloodied and torn, and I was pretty sure running from him now would only result in a chase that I did not want.
He was so close, I could feel the heat radiating from his body. I shut my eyes. So, this was why he kept his distance. He didn’t want to eat me. That had to be it because I was pretty sure he was going to try to bite my head off. Then I would have to try to kill him, and it would be a whole thing, and I still had to work tomorrow.
Soon I felt something wet against my scraped cheek. Was that his tongue? “I can let you know right now, even with hot sauce, I will not taste good,” I cried.
A tingling sensation soon followed, and the healing warmth of his lycan magic spread over me.
I leaned my neck back in shock, opening my eyes. “I’m a healer. You don’t need to do that.”
He didn’t seem to register what I was saying because he grabbed my arms and continued to lick my cheek.
It was actually sweet, if not a little unsettling, to have someone’s slobber all over your face. “I’ll be okay,” I whispered.
He ignored me and moved to my shoulder, pulling my ruined coat down. There was now a large hole in my blouse. The wound wasn’t as bad as it was before since I was able to get some magic into it earlier, but it was certainly still damaged. He wasn’t bothered by the grossness of the wound and went immediately to work, licking at it. I could see now that his tongue was long and thick, and soon, the sensation of his mouth on my skin was turning into something else.
I felt a throbbing down below as he licked, and I closed my eyes again. Crap, was I getting wet off of this? It felt so primitive yet incredibly sweet and a tad sexy with each long stroke of his tongue. I let out a breath, and my cheeks warmed with embarrassment.
Lance pulled away from me and sniffed the air. A purr vibrated from his chest, drenching my core. This was the infamous sound that was supposed to make omegas weak to their knees. Well, it did.
Lance’s lycan form shifted back to human, but he still had the golden eyes. He moved against me again, burying his nose in my neck. “Mine,” he growled, still purring. His hand moved to my waist, then moved it over my stomach, inching down until he was almost at my center.
I grabbed his hand, looking around the garage. What in the hell was he doing? Was he actually going to grab me out in public like this? “Uh, sir, I think you need to settle down.”
“Mine,” he growled again before licking my neck and kissing it.
My eyes fluttered, but I tried to maintain some sort of sanity. We were in public, and there was a damaged car in the middle of the driving path. The demon bodies, thankfully, had all vanished after death as they tended to do. Still, none of that mattered because his mouth on my skin felt like warm silk, tickling every nerve in my body.
I needed to move, but I really didn’t want to go anywhere. I wanted him to bend me over the hood of my car and have his way with me. My legs needed to move, but they were made of cement now.
“We need to move the car and get inside. And you need to maybe take a cold shower.” I did too, but I wouldn’t say that out loud.
I pushed at his chest at the speed of a snail, but he slammed me back to him, his hands gripping my ass as his purr got louder. Aww hell. My nipples tingled, and if my legs were no longer frozen, I would have hopped on him. What did he want right now? For us to have sex in the middle of the garage? I mean, I’d never done that before, but I was open to exploring new things. Okay, omega brain, you’ve gone too far.
A car honked behind us, and an angry-looking woman stalling behind my car rolled her window down. “Would you please move your car!” she shouted.
Lance bared his teeth at her, and she paled.
I patted his chest in an attempt to calm him. “Sorry. We’ll move it now.”
