He gave a laugh. “Oh, you’re something special, indeed. I can’t wait to be inside you.”

Shit, his voice was turning me on even harder. More pleasure kicked out at me, continuing to flick against my inner walls to that most elusive spot inside me. I was going to come soon, and I hated it. I increased the speed of my magic over his shaft.

Daniel began to hump the air, and seeing him move that way, the definition of his toned abs clenching as he moved with his eyes shut tight and mouth hung open, was so erotic I could no longer hold it in. I crashed over a wave of pleasure, screaming out as I came uncontrollably for what felt like almost a minute. I released a spray of fluid, drenching myself and my bed. My body shook, heart pounded. I was both horrified and shocked at my body. I’d never squirted before. And he hadn’t laid a finger on me. Well, damn.

“Fuck, that’s so sexy. I wish I could suck it all up. You smell so good. I want to fucking eat you up,” Daniel breathed out.

I laughed, my body now spent and exhausted from the force of the orgasm. He moved his hand into his pants to touch himself. Surely my magic had waned a bit as I focused on my own climax. “No cheating,” I said.

He gave me pained eyes but did as he was told, moving his hands to the floor. He hung his head to his chest, his long white hair draping forward partially over his face. He looked up at me with those same twinkling eyes, looking mischievous and sexy at the same time. He lifted the right corner of his mouth in another grin. “Shall I make you come ag—”

He didn’t have time to finish that sentence because I pushed all my magic at him. He yelled out a series of expletives and pushed his hips forward in rapid succession. I could have come again just watching him. Soon the front of his navy trousers darkened with his come, about the circumference of a fist. I’d never seen a man come that hard before. Then again, he wasn’t human.

His pumping slowed down until he eventually stopped. Still panting, he looked over to me, his eyes glazed in pleasure. “I can’t wait to fuck you.”

I gapped at him, in shock at his brazen words. I still wasn’t sure about him, but I couldn’t wait either. And I’d peel back his layers and find the real Daniel. Whatever he was hiding, I wanted to know.

CHAPTER16

BILLIE

Itapped the little boy on the head lightly and gave him a red lollypop. “You’re all healed, sweetheart.”

The little boy jumped down off the medical table, eyeing the candy with wide eyes. His father patted him on the back and looked up at me with an appreciative smile. “Thank you, doctor.”

I nodded. “No problem. Make sure you get that prescription filled so he doesn’t have any more allergic reactions, but as usual, come here, and we’ll heal him quickly if anything happens.”

The father turned and headed out of the door and gave a nervous glance up at Lance, who was posted at the side like a large ogre. He’d already made a child cry by growling at him when the little boy kicked me in the shin. He also distracted many a patient with his ridiculous good looks and size. He looked like a celebrity wrestler.

I closed out the patient information on my electronic pad before scrolling to see the next patient on the way. “Can you stop scaring my patients?”

He huffed but didn’t respond.

I looked up at him as he stuffed his hands into his jeans, his large arms flexing under his plain white T-shirt. He’d been a hovering shadow to me for the past couple of days, but unlike the others, he was far from pleasant. It wasn’t that he was mean, but he wasn’t exactly friendly. My apartment was small, but somehow, he found a way to be as far as he could be from me. Ever since the haircut, he handled me like I was a wild animal. I was surprised he didn’t sit in the back when I drove us to work. And he barely talked. Most of the time, he always appeared to be busy around me. Reading books, listening to music, intently watching TV. When I did try to engage him in conversation in the car, his answers were always brief.

Truth be told, he was starting to annoy me. Perhaps I shouldn’t care. This was just a bodyguard arrangement, but, hell, I did care.

“Maybe you should go take a nap in one of our break rooms.”

He shook his head. “Can’t leave you.”

He was using words again.

“Okay, well, try not to scare any more people.”

“You heal people all day. Aren’t you tired?”

I looked up at him, and I could see a trace of concern on his face. Was he actually worried about my well-being?

Had I seemed drained? Some days did wipe me out, more so lately. I knew it was related to me being close to my heat. My body was just expending more energy as of late. “I get tired. I’m giving energy to heal people. Even if it’s magic. Using magic can be draining. That’s why I’m also a trained doctor so that I can mix traditional with magic to preserve my energy.”

He nodded, seeming to ponder my words. “When you have an alpha, he will be able to recharge you.”

I raised my brows. Now that, I did not know. That was beneficial. Of course, I noted how he spoke as if he wasn’t in the running to be my alpha. It really did feel like he was there as a job and not because he particularly cared. I should have paid him. How could I be in a pack when one of the guys was so distant?

“Thanks for the info,” I grumbled.

He nodded, looking down at his feet. Maintaining eye contact with him was a rarity. “I wish I could help you now.”
