Dan crouched down in front of me. “We don’t want anyone else. We got overzealous, and we don’t expect you to forgive us. Just give us a chance to make an impression on you. We’ll be our real selves.”

I shrugged, not believing anything he said. He just wanted me to calm down and move on. “I don’t think I care anymore. I don’t want one alpha let alone four alphas. Especially stalker ones.”

“I get it. I do. We do stupid shit. We aren’t perfect, but we do care for you. Genuinely. And whatever you want, we’ll do. Just get to know us.”

I crossed my arms, shaking my head at them as much as myself because I still really didn’t want to leave.

Daniel, sensing my resolve, tapped my knee lightly in a manner meant to be comforting. Crap, it was, I untensed even more. Sure, they had that alpha magic, but I wasn’t in heat. I was just into them.

“I would love for you to move in with us and try it out. It would certainly make me feel better. That attack yesterday has me worried,” he said, eyes soft and brows upturned.

He looked like a sad little puppy. If he thought that face was going to get to me well, he was absolutely right, it would. My stomach fluttered, and I bared my teeth in resistance.

There was no way in hell I’d move in here with all of them. It would be game over. Just throw me naked on the bed and send for my things because I would never leave again. Still, I understood his concern. “It definitely has me worried, too. I’ve never had demons come after me. But I’m not moving in here. I don’t need your protection. I’m good.”

Daniel tipped his head toward me in understanding. “I get it. But maybe we can compromise somewhere.”

I rolled my eyes. He was really persistent.

Daniel moved his hand and dropped his head so that I could not see his face. “You’re an unclaimed powerful omega and there might be demons after you. If that havoc demon said ‘ours,’ then there are more to come. I know you have magic, but a little reinforcement is never harmful.”

His voice was lower, but it wasn’t the compelling alpha voice he could have used on me. There was something in his tone that made me straighten up and take note. He was serious about looking out for me. Not just saying words. And he did have a point. I was strong, but I didn’t know how deep this all went, and I could use more help than just Kai. Especially if I remotely wanted to meet the others. “Fine. You guys can rotate as my bodyguards. I’m not staying here, but you can stay with me one at a time.”

Daniel looked up with a lopsided smile that threatened to remove my anger completely. “And I ask that we do something together as a group at least twice a week. That’ll help you get to know us.”

I glared at him. “You’re pushing it. I’ll get back to you on that.”

Ty walked over to me. “I know you haven’t agreed to move in, but do you want a tour of our place? We have a room all set up for you, and you can tell us if you want any changes made.”

“I don’t care about making changes because I’m not moving in. But I’m nosey, and I want to see the house, and I’m a little hungry.”

Daniel got up as well, walking to the kitchen. “Don’t be gone long. Dinner’s about ready.”

I got up, pointing to them all individually. “I haven’t forgiven you all. We’ll see how these visits go if I ever forgive you. But get the alpha stuff out of your heads. This is just an arrangement until things die down with me.”

Daniel bowed his head, infuriatingly unfazed by my words. “Of course.”

Ty tilted his head toward the front of the mansion, and I followed, grumbling my displeasure with them as I exited.

The place was bigger than I thought. There was another separate dining area that was more formal. There was also an office and library room. And the basement could have been its own separate apartment, gym and game room. He showed me all the rooms, and I could tell whose was whose easily. Daniel stayed on the top floor along with the room they were offering me. Kai’s, Ty’s and Lance’s rooms were on the second level.

The room they were offering me was amazing. It was large, with its own bathroom. The walls were royal blue with white trim. The king-sized bed to the left of the space had a large cushioned, gray headboard with a brightly patterned comforter flanked by two white side tables. There was also a seating area near the right of the bed, and across from it, a large TV. On the other side of the bed was a white desk and plush white chair. The bathroom, near the seating area, had a small shower and a separate claw foot tub along with a window that would probably give a lot of good natural light. Next to the bathroom was also a huge walk-in closet with rows of shelves for shoes.

Honestly, it was like a dream room. Damn it. I hated liking it. “This place is incredible.”

Ty beamed at me. “I’m glad you like it. I hope one day you’ll consider moving in.”

His smile was adorable, and for the first time, I noticed he had dimples that made my lower half go all fluttery. I’m not sure why, it just felt like I needed to connect to him. He bothered me the least right now. “Can you take over bodyguard duties?”

He gave a quick nod. “Starting tonight.”

“Good,” I replied, still looking around the closet. In the corner, I noticed a pile of pillows of all shapes and sizes and tons of fluffy blankets. I pointed at them. “That might be overkill. I don’t need to switch up my pillows that often.”

Ty gave a sheepish smile, scratching the back of his neck. “That’s for your nest. When omegas go into heat, they like to prepare by nesting and filling up a padded floor or bed with tons of pillows and blankets. It’s supposed to be comforting.”

I shook my shoulders and walked out of the space. Nest? What was I, a bird? I vaguely knew about omega nests, but the whole thing just made me remember all the more of yet another reason why I hated being an omega. They were so animalistic. I cringed just thinking about people at the job finding out. They would know I went into heat. I wanted to pound my head against the wall. How the hell would I get through this?
