I may die tonight, but it’ll be with a smile.
I’m sore everywhere, but in the best kind of way.
Today is going to be a long ass day. Running on almost no sleep isn’t as easy as it was when I was younger.
But it’s worth it.
Wiping up the dribbles of coffee from the counter, I toss the paper towel into the garbage.
Holy shit, that’s a lot of used condoms.
How many times last night? More than I can count.
No wonder I feel like I did a million ab crunches.
Pouring a second cup for Sawyer, I carry them both to the bed, setting them on the nightstand.
He’s spread out like a starfish, one arm over his eyes and softly snoring.
Freakin’ adorable.
Sexy as hell.
His dick twitches when I crawl in next to him even though his breathing doesn’t change.
It’s as if he’s hardwired tome.
I like that, much more than I should.
Tracing the thick vein that runs along his shaft makes it jump with my touch.
And pulls a groan from his throat.
“Don’t stop,” he says without moving his elbow covering his face.
But then he flings it to the side and sits up, blinking rapidly at the clock. “Crap. Dad is gonna kill me.”
“Because you missed breakfast?” I remember the joke Sophia made yesterday.
He runs his fingers through his wild dark hair as he shakes his head. “Not that. We’re supposed to be sorting spring calves today.”
Sometimes I forget he has a whole other life outside of the bar.
Even though he only usually works two days a week, for some reason he feels like such a…staple here now.
“I’m sorry I didn’t mention it last night. I wasn’t, um, thinking past the moment.” His lopsided smile has a way of charming me.
There is a small part of me that’s almost disappointed he has to leave.
Stop that.
“It’s okay, I know you have responsibilities at the ranch.” I’m not sure why, but I stand to pull on my robe.
I don’t want to be naked anymore.
He scratches the back of his neck and squints at me before rolling off the bed to his feet. “I can try and come back tonight?”
I want to say yes.
