Evan pointed to the dark hallway off the living room. “Second door on the right down there.”

Which left her alone with their host for the first time in more than a week.

She moved around the island to stand next to him, and he wrapped his arm around her. “Having fun?”

“Yes.”

“Are you nervous?”

“Of course,” she said, laughing.

“Let me help relax you.” He skated his hands up and down her arms. “We’re having a good time, right?”

“Oh yeah. But I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop,” she admitted in a whisper. “For you guys to start fighting or something.”

“That’s not going to happen. Not tonight.” He stroked one hand up to her cheek and gently curled his fingers through her hair, then cradled the back of her head. “Come closer, I want to tell you a secret.”

She smiled as she shifted into his arms, right up against him. “What?”

“You’re sexy.” He lowered his mouth to hers. “So sexy,” he repeated against her lips. “And you make me hard.”

She shivered as he kissed her. His mouth coaxed and promised, his tongue just teasing, and he left her wanting more when he drew back. “Mmm.”

“Want to know another secret?”

“Yes.”

“Your husband makes me hard, too.”

She shuddered and leaned in, kissing him again. Taking this time, and giving.

Evan heard Brent before she did. He was the one to end the kiss, the one to lift his head and look to the hallway. She followed his gaze, then stepped back on wobbly legs as she found Brent watching them.

“It’s okay,” Evan said quietly. “He likes to watch us.”

“I do,” her husband admitted. His voice was hoarse and his eyes hooded. And further south, an erection strained at the fly on his cargo pants.

“She’ll like to watch you and me, too,” Evan said. “Come here.”

Jess fumbled for the counter behind her. How did Evan know this about them when they didn’t even know it about themselves?

Brent didn’t move.

“It’s okay.”

Brent slid her a questioning look. Her pulse thudded in her ears and a hot, prickly sensation had wrapped itself around her throat. She couldn’t say anything, her voice was completely missing, but she jerked a nod. She wanted to see this. See them.

Evan moved first, closer to the living room, and she followed.

Brent took a tentative step, then two strides, closing the gap between the men.

She’d known this was what they were headed towards. Known this was what they needed to move forward—either together, or apart.

For too long, Brent had wanted men in secret. He’d never acted on it, but that secret had torn them apart. Tonight would bring them closure on that. Tonight, they would share that secret and his first steps in acting on those desires.Thatpart would never be a secret from her, and it was quite a gift.

She was grateful for Evan now more than ever. Her friend was helping her be braver than she’d ever imagined possible. And maybe by the end of the night, she’d be able to call him more than her friend. She wanted Evan to be her lover.

Their lover.
