Prologue

Kozlov Royal Vampires

The Magic Hour

Fifteen years ago.

The breeze swirls around the balcony, enveloping the Tsar, my brothers, the Princes, and me.

I look at my Sire, the Tsar’s distraught violet-blue eyes look out into the horizon, pursing his lips, and I notice that his face is edgy, strained as he attempts to hide his pain. I’ve never seen my Sire exhibit any emotions; therefore, seeing his pain is shattering. The current events have taken a toll on the entire royal family, especially the Tsar; the loss of my uncle, Prince Ugo, has been devastating.

I can’t fathom how in the world a rogue vampire was able to enter the palace to cause such catastrophic chaos, shattering the sense of security, the impenetrable haven from any malevolent deeds. In a matter of minutes, the rogue vampire killed my uncle and took my cousin, Princess Anastasia.

It’s evident that the rogue vampire is attempting to force Kozlov’s hand by taking Princess Anastasia.

“The Golden Hour is opening, the magical hour for the portal is now open, now you can enter into other dimensions, my sons,” King Kozlov utters in a low tone, looking out into the different hues of blue, pink, and orange lowering his eyelids.

A few minutes later, the sky turns dark navy; he inhales, nostrils flare as he exhales. The Tsar is wearing a black, long wool coat, dark grey slacks, and a white button-up shirt. He waves his hand, his signet ruby ring glows.

The Tsar, tismy father looks young, only the silver in his hair bears witness to his age of two centuries. Yes, we live forever unless we’re intentionally killed, as my uncle, Prince Ugo, was beheaded by the rogue vampire Ivan.

The sky ensues into the blue hour that lasts approximately thirty minutes, the twilight golden hour, moving into the night. The golden hour is the most important time, tisthe magical hour to enter other dimensions.

The Vampire realm is parallel with the earth, an independent realm of life, and we coexist with the humans on earth.

Tsar Rudolph Kozlov, the Tsar of the Vampire Realm, stands tall, curling his fingers into his palm crushing the parchment in his fist. His long black hair, with silver strands, shimmer with the moon rays as he stands outside on the Vampire palace balcony.

“The rogue Vampire has been spotted in the earth realm, in the City Of Sin, Las Vegas! The Black Knight Enzo is following the rogue’s trail until you return. Time is of an essence, my sons, tis time,” Tsar Rudolph growls, dropping the parchment onto the floor.

He waves his hand, throwing lightning bolts into the sky, illuminating the palace. He grinds his jaw; the shade of dark red spreads over his face as his anger explodes. He raises both hands, pointing his index fingers to the sky, causing lightning bolts to glow in the sky.

“Sire, we’re ready,” Prince Konstantine says, standing tall, regal, grasping his hands behind him.

Prince Vladimir is the firstborn; therefore, the heir to the throne. Then Prince Konstantine is the second born, and I’m the last born.

Of fuckingcourse, being the youngest, I’m often prone to having fun. But I must say that; lately, I’ve been too damn busy, and it’s starting to piss me off. I need to take some time to enjoy life before I become like my brothers, cynical and bored. I don’t want that. I want to experience life in the human realm, take time to have fun.

Fuck, I don’t know when and if I’ll ever be able to take time out.

“We will find her,” Prince Vlad says, nodding his head, shifting his feet, standing tall.

Yeah, it’s a moment of formality, of respect towards the Tsar. We all stand tall, rigid, stoic, and respectful. That’s the way it is, respect, integrity, values, accountability, and ethics are very much part of the Kozlov royal family traits, the doctrine.

“Sire, Princess Anastasia will be found,” I snarl, furrowing my forehead and lifting my chin. I straighten my back, fisting my hands behind my back looking into the darkening sky.

Princess Anastasia is a precious and loved member of the Kozlov Royal Vampires. She’s like a sister, she’s my age, and we must locate her before that rogue Ivan taints and abuses her.

“Sire, we will locate the rogue Vampire Ivan and bring him to you,” Prince Kon snarls, looking at my Sire.

“It’s imperative to locate the rogue vampire Ivan before he does the unthinkable and causes harm to the humans! Ivan’s bloodthirst and aspiration for power are boundless andtissomething to fear. An insane vampire with such a radical thirst is capable of unthinkable atrocities. That rogue will not succeed in compromising Princess Anastasia’s honor to force our hands to grant his union with Princess Anastasia. We must capture that crazed rogue vampire,” Tsar Rodolph growls, running his fingers through his shoulder-length hair.

“I always thought that Sir Ivan was a little off. I never liked how he would seek Princess Anastasia at the Kozlov’s events,” I say, looking at my Sire.

“Indeed, Ivan was always a wild card,” Tsar says, grinding his molars.

“My Sire, we’re ready to hunt Ivan down; soon Princess Anastasia will return home,” Prince Vlad says, nodding.

“My Princes, I must believe, I have faith that we will locate Princess Anastasia. I will avenge my beloved brother and rescue his daughter,” Tsar Rudolph snarls, turning to look at the Princes raising his right eyebrow.
