“Ronan,” she whimpered, looking back at me over her shoulder.

Fuck, I wanted to take her here and now, but staying here much longer would push our luck. When I finally took my beauty around my cock, it wasn’t going to be during a rushed moment hoping to not get caught. I’d drag it out until she was a shaking mess for me, crying to orgasm as I showed her exactly why she needed me in her life.

“Just stay still, I need to mark you,” I growled softly, retracting my fingers from her pussy and putting them in my mouth as I began to pump my hand on my cock, knowing it wouldn’t take much with how worked up I was.

After everything that had happened, I wanted my mark on her. The idea of covering her in my cum had my own climax approaching quickly. She licked her lips as she watched me stroke my cock before batting her eyes at me. “Next time I want you in my mouth.”

My orgasm slammed into me hard at the sound of those sinful words crossing those pouty lips of hers. I painted her ass and the outside of her pussy in my cum as I groaned her name in relief, feeling almost hypnotized by the sight of it.

She was mine.

Before she could say another word, I put myself away, still frustratingly hard as I watched her pull her underwear and leggings back up. I turned her gently into my chest and pressed her back against the wall, capturing her chin between my fingers.

I held her there against me and spoke softly, “I promise you, we will figure all of this out, Beauty—every part of it. But we’re going to do it together, understand?”

“Yes,” she responded, staring at me intently and making me believe that we were going to be stronger because of this.DespiteSteele’s intention to rip us apart.

The trust shining in her eyes was absolutely all I fucking needed to believe in that.

KIERAN

Sirens blared to life, immediately ripping me from my state of deep sleep.

A startled gasp left my throat as I sat up in bed, nearly colliding with…Bastian? My eyes went wide as I saw the Caster at the side of my bed, his expression filled with more concern than I was used to seeing him express.

“What the hell?” I whispered, glancing at my window as if someone was going to break in at any moment.

“I came to check on you,” he explained, smoothing a piece of hair from my face. “I woke up and I could feel that something was wrong. The sirens just now confirmed it.”

“Confirmedwhat?” I questioned, feeling a bit dazed. I already wasn’t the most alert after waking up, but the combination of finding him over my bed and the blaring in the distance, only added to my confusion.

“That we’re under attack—get dressed,” Steel ordered from the hallway, his voice carrying through the open doorway. It was a sharp demand that brokered no room for argument before his heavy footsteps took him down the stairs.

“Shit,” I murmured, standing up as Bastian went to my armoire and pulled out a sweater that I tugged on beforegrabbing sneakers from the floor next to the door. I’d started wearing leggings to bed after accidentally exposing my ass to Gabe, so that was one less thing to worry about now.

I had no idea what Steele had planned, but despite the obvious issues between us, I found myself listening to him. Everything awkward and tense between us aside, he was lethal in combat. Since he was ordered to protect me, I knew he would. I also knew he was the most likely source to get answers about what was going on. Although if Bastian was right and we were under attack, I could easily assume who was responsible.

Alfemir.They’d sent reinforcements.

Bastian looped an arm around my waist, pausing my path forward at the door, and kissed my cheek. I melted back into him momentarily. His voice was slightly strangled as he murmured, “Promise to stay near me, Darling.”

I gave him a quick nod before we jogged down the stairs. My gaze locked on the commotion at the front door, realizing the new, larger security team was standing with Steele and Gabe in the foyer where they talked in low, harsh tones. If the way Steele’s cheeks were getting splotchy with redness were any indication, it was likely that they were arguing over what to do. I almost felt bad for the security team for having to deal with him right now.

“Beauty,” Ronan appeared behind me, squeezing my hip in passing as I met his gaze, noticing that he was fully focused on Niz who was flying back and forth throughout the main room anxiously. Before I could respond back to him, the lead security member spoke firmly in response to Steele’s harsh words.

“There has been an attack in the common area?—”

“Yes, I fucking assumed that,” Steele bit out, hands clenched tightly into fists at his side. “So move out of my way.Now.”

The man hesitated momentarily, shuffling awkwardly and looking at his team members before clearing his throat toanswer. “Councilmember Amelia has given orders that we keep the members of this household isolated and under watch here.”

“Absolutely not,” Steele spit out, fury darkening his face before he glanced toward Gabe with a look of indignance.

His reaction didn’t surprise me, nor did the fact that he was already dressed for battle in a dark shirt and black cargo pants that would help obscure him in the cover of night. At his side he had a handful of swords, very similar to the type we used in training, except the blades on these glinted in the low lighting in the house. Where did he keep those? My brows rose with the thought. Actually, it wouldn’t surprise me if the man had an entire armory here somewhere.

I could see that the hesitation in the security guard’s words and unsure mannerisms were causing the rest of the team to shift uncomfortably now. My guess was that they usually took direct orders from Steele and being put in a situation of denying him…Yeah, that wouldn’t be a walk in the park for anyone.

Gabe attempted to assuage the issues, reaching a hand out to squeeze Steele’s shoulder, “If Amelia thinks it’s best, maybe we should listen, especially considering that we know they’re targeting Kieran. Amelia told us it’s our responsibility to protect her, remember?”
