When we pulled apart, she narrowed her eyes at Drake. “You know, doing whatever my liege asks of me, like I’m suddenly his personal assistant or something.”

“You’re so dramatic,” Drake grumbled in return, rolling his eyes.

She leaned in, her curls tickling my cheek as she whispered into my ear, “I think he’s just trying to keep me busy, so I don’t have time for a dick appointment.”

“You know I can still hear every word you’re saying?”

Undeterred, she kept whispering, “Your man’s a cockblock. Can you please distract him long enough when we get home for me to take care of business?”

When we get home. The sentiment of her referring to it as home to me was sweet and touched my heart, especially when I was feeling without one right now.

Turning my lips to her ear, I whispered conspiratorially, “Don’t worry, girl. If he doesn’t let you get some dick, I won’t let him get any pussy. Fair is fair.”

“What!” Drake roared as he came to my side and tugged me away from Lo, “This is bullshit. Absolutely not.”

I kicked my feet out and wiggled, trying to escape his grip. He doubled down, his arms like bands of steel around my body as my laughter rang out.

“Take that, Dracula!” Lo called out, a full smile consuming her face as her eyes glittered with amusement. Her hip popped out as she pointed a long, manicured nail at him, “Chicks before dicks!”

A playful growl emanated from Drake before he set me on my feet, letting me go.

Remember my warning, Comoara. Whenever I want and no matter who is around. You won’t be withholding anything from me. Your pussy is mine.

Yeah, yeah, I think you might be all talk.

I couldn’t contain my bratty mouth this time, wanting to see him follow through with his promise one day.

I’ll remember that remark.

Bet.

Turning around as I chuckled, I came to a screeching halt when I noticed Lincoln and Andrei side by side, staring at the three of us with slightly parted mouths and wide eyes. The smile on my face fell immediately.

“What?” I asked, my brow scrunching at their shocked expressions.

They glanced at each other before looking back at me, both men shaking their heads. Andrei ran a hand through his shaggy hair, wincing before he said, “It’s just that, uh…this isn’t what I was expecting from Lo and Dracula, considering their reputations.”

Lincoln let out a huff of amusement, “You mentioned enjoying your time with them at the castle, and while I saw a different version of Drake in the hallway, it’s something entirely different to actually see the dynamics of two renowned cold, bloodthirsty killers act like playful puppies with you.”

“Check yourself before you wreck yourself, boys,” Lo murmured in an icy tone that made the hair on my arms stand to attention. “I don’t know who you’re calling a puppy, but I know it isn’t me.”

Oh, fuck.

“Lo, he’s baiting you,” Drake announced in a bored tone as he plopped onto the padded floor and stretched out his long legs in front of him.

Comoara, come sit. We need to get this meeting started. There’s a lot of ground to cover.

I blinked at him, shocked at how unbothered he was as Lo and Lincoln remained locked in a stand-off.

Lincoln raised a single brow, offering a lopsided grin at Lo as he added, “I see that take-no shit attitude is still in you. Just wanted to make sure my memory of you as a kid wasn’t completely wrong.”

“Fuck, that’s a weird thought, ” Andrei muttered as he lowered himself to the ground as well. Flicking his gaze toward Lo, he asked in a quizzical tone, “Was Lincoln as annoying as a kid as he is now? I picture him stealing his friends' toys and breaking them.”

“Fuck you,” Lincoln muttered, but there was no real heat in his words as he lowered himself to the ground and reclined back on his hands.

It was the perfect icebreaker, the tension bleeding from the room as Lo let out a sharp laugh. “He was always getting into things and asking questions. I actually don’t remember him ever wanting to play with the kids. He was always wanting to learn more about the board and what we did.”

For some reason, that thought made the corner of my lips tug upward into a smile. Her description completely matched what I pictured little Lincoln being like. Andrei was right when he said that was a weird thought for Lo and Drake to have known Lincoln as a child. It constantly slipped my mind that vampire’s lives were so long, and you really couldn’t tell anyone’s age just from seeing them.
