“Sure thing.” The waitress winked. “I’ll bring you a box for the cakes too and your check.”

Noah was back to being amused. “She must be sensing something.”

Erin trailed her foot up the seam of his legs toward his fly. “Maybe she senses your… interest.”

“Fascinating.” He redirected her wrist back on top of the table with his best Mr. Spock imitation.

“What’s your taste tonight?” Erin got a forkful of a chocolate mousse as the waitress slid by, dropping off the promised items. With his gaze on her, Erin licked off the chocolate cream off the fork.

His eyes crossed, and he determinedly boxed up the pancakes and most of the cakes. “You already know my favorite flavor.”

She scooped up some more of the chocolate mousse and put it in his waiting mouth. “Should I ask them to bring out a candle? I can do Marilyn Monroe’s Happy Birthday, Mr. Fire Chief.”

His breathing sped up, and he took a spoonful of Black Hole Cherry Torte. “Not here.”

“Then why are we still here?” Erin questioned, wiggling her forkful of Coconut Comet Cake suggestively.

“Because this is a date,” he hissed as she suggestively rubbed his calf with her foot.

“We’ve drank. We’ve eaten. Isn’t that enough?”

“With you, nothing is ever enough,” Noah said, near groaning.

Some early Rocky Horror Picture Show people arrived. Erin spared them a brief glance. It was a Black guy with his arm around a voluptuous redhead. The redhead’s strategy of short skirt and big boobs was paying off quite well for her. They gave off the horny-tipsy vibe, and he wasn’t resisting much.

Unlike Noah, who was determined trying to complete this date. All Erin needed to do was catch him off guard before he could exert control.

Because when he stopped controlling himself… magnificent was an understatement.

She changed tactics, ignoring the couple who made their way to a different booth. “I took your advice about my car very seriously.”

“You did?”

“I traded it in for a Jeep, fire engine red. Four-wheel drive, high ground clearance, towing capable. It’s my first new car; Theo helped me pick it out. Everything else I’ve owned started with a hundred thousand miles on it.”

“That’s great,” he said sincerely. At his age and position, Noah must have bought multiple cars, but Erin hoped to offer a novel birthday experience.

She gave him her sultriest smile and hit a button on her new keys. “The seats flip down. Remote seat warming and heat.”

“Erin.” His pupils dilated, his telltale warning sign that she was overwhelming him.

“Instead of buying you a present, I bought me a present at Victoria’s Secret. Would you like to examine the present while helping me christen the Jeep?”

Noah swallowed several times and opened his mouth. No words came out.

Erin rolled her eyes. Time to abandon any attempt at subtlety. She dropped her keys on the ground. “Oops.”

She got up from the table, stood directly in front of Noah, and bent over. As planned, her jeans slid down, and her new near-transparent silky pink thong peeked out. She stayed in that position for a couple of seconds and heard his sharp intake of breath.

When she stood back up, she said, “Throw cash on the table.”

Noah dropped a fifty, grabbed their stuff, and propelled her toward the door. His hand was on the small of her back, and she couldn’t feel the cold even without her coat. The waves of heat radiating off her was more than a match for the lightly falling snow.

They couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Noah kissed her halfway across the parking lot, tasting gloriously of the cherry torte. They made out furiously, staggering their way through the mostly empty parking lot. The kiss became a near-wrestling match as they tussled over which of them could hold the other more tightly.

With difficulty, she detached an arm enough to pop the locks on her two-door. The leftovers and jackets got shoved onto the floor of the passenger seat, and Erin flipped the front passenger seat down. Noah climbed into the back with her, closing the door.

He buried his head in the side of her neck, sucking on her skin like a man possessed. Erin grasped his shoulders, pulling his weight toward her, and they toppled backward. She let out a yelp when she bounced off the hard metal casing of her recently purchased first aid kit.
