“Damn, I love that sound,” I mumbled.

Her brow raised in question, “What sound?”

“Your laugh,” I explained and slid into the bed next to her, pulling the blankets over our bodies. I laid on my side, my head propped onto one of my hands, while the other rested on her hip.

“Did I hurt you?”

I knew I left bruises, but I wanted to make sure it wasn’t too much… too far. Bec shook her head, “Not at all. You could never hurt me.”

“Well, damn, I guess I need to try harder next time,” I joked with a smile.

She rolled her eyes and rolled closer to me, resting her head on my chest.

“What happens now?” She asked, quietly.

I raised a brow, “I fuck you again, and see if I can break the bed this time.”

She rolled her eyes but smiled nonetheless. “I’ve unleashed a monster, haven’t I? That’s not what I meant. I mean between us. Things are complicated… really complicated. I just want to make sure we’re on the same page.”

She wasn’t wrong. I was her employee, we were in a fake relationship for the media, and her brother wasn’t going to be very pleased with the state of things between us now. However, he was going home first thing in the morning, so I could push that conversation to a later date. Things around us were complicated, but my feelings for her weren’t.

I wanted her. Simple as that.

“What do you want, Bec?” I asked.

She sighed, her breath lightly fanning against my chest. “I want to try and be with you for real, but I don’t think either of us knowshowto be in a relationship. I want to keep my job, and that requires us to maintain our fake relationship, too. I…” She trailed off and turned slightly, resting her hands against my chest and her chin on her hands, “I want this to work, but I don’t know how.”

“How many real relationships have you been in before me?” I asked as I tucked her hair behind her ear. She was beautiful in the dim light, with her steel blue eyes shining.

“Ummm…” she murmured, “maybe four or five. But nothing serious. You?”

“Zero.”

She barked a laugh. “Zero? Really?”

“Mmhm, the closest thing I’ve gotten to a real relationship is my friendship with Malachi.” If we were still friends. “We became rather co-dependent when serving. Well, I was co-dependent. He was annoyed.”

“Zero it is, then. How many people have you been with?” She asked, “Or should I leave that subject alone?”

I smirked, “If it will bother you, I don’t have to tell you. But I’m not ashamed. I don’t think anyone should be for sleeping around. I mean… it was all 100% consensual, and everyone involved wanted to do it at the time.”

She thought it over for a moment, her lips pursing. It was cute to watch her process information and sort it in her brain. “Ballpark. More than 20?”

“Yup.”

“More than 30?”

I nodded and smiled.

Her eyes grew wide. “I don’t know if I should be impressed or concerned.”

I booped her nose. “Impressed, sweetheart. I have a wealth of knowledge that we can put to good use.”

“So… we have barely any relationship experience between us, you’re good in bed, and you’re my employee.” She groaned, her forehead dropping. “We’re fucked.”

“We’ll figure it out. Whatever you need from me, we can do.”

She took a deep breath and sat up, pulling the sheet with her and wrapping it around her torso. “While we figure this out, can we keep it private?”
