He drops down to one knee, holding the box out to me. “Tandy Vaughn, my Bookworm, my best friend, and the woman who’s turned my life right-side up,” he starts, swallowing hard. “You’ve shown me the beauty of love, taught me to fight for it, and made me braver and bolder in the process. I’ve never been more myself than when I’m with you. And I can’t imagine a future without you.”

Opening the box, he reveals the most gorgeous ring. It’s unlike anything I’ve seen before. A wavy line of diamonds, almost like an infinity sign with an emerald tucked on one side.

“I love you, Tandy, and if you let me, I will spend every day of the rest of my life showing you just how much. Will you marry me?”

My throat tightens as my eyes fill with tears. It’s the perfect proposal from the perfect guy, ugly sweater and all.

I throw my arms around his neck, knocking him off balance. We laugh as we tumble to the floor, with Jet licking both our faces.

“Yes! Absolutely yes!” I squeal, my tears falling freely.

Grayson’s laughter fills the room. Gramps is cheering from the kitchen. We manage to get Jet to stop licking our faces when I remember we forgot one thing.

“The ring!” I shout.

Grayson smiles and holds up the box. “It’s right here.”

He slips the ring on my finger, and I can’t help but stare at it.

“It’s unique, just like you. Do you love it?”

“It’s perfect.” I wrap my arms around his neck. “I love you, Grayson Sanders.”

“I love you, Tandy Vaughn.” He wraps his arms around my waist. “Forever.”

He pulls me closer, the corners of his lips twitch upward into a smile that radiates pure love. A love for me.

“Forever.”
