“She was nice,” I said simply.

“You think so?”

“Yeah. She loves you.”

“I know. I love her too.” Asante smiled.

“She has reservations about me,” I added.

Asante nodded. “Yeah.”

“I don’t blame her,” I confessed.

“Me either.”

My phone buzzed in my pocket and I pulled it free immediately. It was Rook making it clear that he actually was going to come out tonight. He let me know he would be at Asante’s club if I wanted to come out with him. I let him know I’d meet him there.

“You going to the club tonight?” I asked.

“Every night.” Asante scoffed.

“Rook is going to be there so I’ll be in the building if you need anything.”

“If I need anything?” he repeated.

“Uhhuh.” I nodded.

Asante smirked and his hands went to my sides. He didn’t pull me in. Instead he stepped forward. He closed the space between us and I felt like I damn near melted once we were chest to chest. I looked up into his brown eyes and watched as they bounced around my face before he leaned down and our lips met.

“I’ve been wanting to do that since I saw you.” He spoke against my mouth and I nodded.

“Me too.” I exhaled.

He smiled.

We kissed again then took a step back.

“I’ll see you in there and if you need anything, let me know,” Asante said.

“I’ve got you.”

“I’ll follow you out.”

“Alright.”

I hopped in my whip and waited for Asante to climb in his. Then, we headed out.

I parked in the worker’s parking lot and Asante and I entered the backdoor together.

“Have fun,” Asante said.

“I’ll try.” I turned around and leaned into him. Asante kissed me briefly and winked at me before he headed toward his office and I headed into the chaos that was the club.

Rook was already in attendance standing in our usual section with a ton of women and a few men. I was surprised when I saw that the entire family had actually come out. Knight and King were sitting together. Knight had an arm wrapped around Casmi who was nursing a little drink and dancing slightly in herseat. Xavia and Nova were in a far corner of the section dancing together and laughing.

“What’s up?”

I entered the section, dapped up my brothers and some of the men I knew and hugged my sister-in-laws. Then, I collapsed on the couch beside King.
