“You are NOT going to believe this,” Darcy replied, stepping aside to give her best friend some space in the group.
They were all gathered around a closet that was very similar to the one Darcy and Stephenie had hidden inside during their (failed) escape plan. This room, however, was much larger than the one they had hidden in. Eight storage containers were lined up against the wall. A blue light blinked on the top of each one, filling the room in a series of shadows. The whole thing wascreepy, like something out of a horror movie. Stephenie half expected a monster to jump out of the dark.
“What is it?” Stephenie asked. “I don’t understand.” Other than the creepy glowing lights, it didn’t look altogether frightening or suspicious to her.
Darcy turned slowly to face her. “These are storage pods, Stephenie.”
“Yeah. So?” She couldn’t see what the problem was. Obviously, they’d have storage pods if they were going on an extended trip into space.
“No, you don’t get it.” Darcy sighed and rolled her eyes. “These aren’t normal storage pods. They don’t have laundry or whatever else inside them. These are for LIVING BEINGS.” She stared intently at Stephenie.
“Wait a second… So these are all full of…?” It was starting to register now.
“Yep,” Darcy said slowly. “It looks like we weren’t the only two abducted by aliens.”
