“Just please let it go,” she implores, her lips wilting in a frown. “Please.”

I hang my head, sighing with resignation.

“Fine,” I capitulate. “But you need to figure it out soon, Kady. It’s not healthy to hold stuff inside you. Whatever it is, you’ve got to deal with it. Let it go.”

I watch as her jaw muscles loosen and the anger slowly dissipates from her body. Bending down, I place a kiss on her nose.

Nodding toward the exit, I take her hand in mine and lead the way. “Come on. Let’s get out of here.”

She’s all too quick to agree and we say goodbye to the guys who are in our path as we exit out the club. Just as we’re about to step out into the street, Gerardo grabs my shoulder to pull me to a stop.

I glance at him over my shoulder, my eyes meeting his deep brown orbs that are etched with concern.

“Good night, friend. And don’t worry about what happens. It will all work out for you in the end.”

He gives me a fist bump and hand slap and then walks away, slinging an arm around a beautiful, slender woman in a red dress.

My mind swims in confusion. I can’t imagine what he’s talking about. I doubt he has any idea what’s going on between Kady and me. Or maybe he saw us on the dance floor talking seriously and assumes we’re fighting.

I push off my concerns over his strange comment and Kady and I head back to my hotel, just a few blocks away. Whatever it is Gerardo meant, I don’t have time to worry about it tonight.

All I care about until the sun comes up over Rome is spending every waking moment with Kady. Turning her inside out with pleasure. And maybe even getting her to open up to me about her troubles.

I’ll worry about everything else after I drop her off at the airport tomorrow.
