Reid gasped as she ran her hands over him, a shiver gliding across his skin. A rumble sounded in his chest, deep enough for Abi to feel it in her palms. He sat up, pulling Abi up after him, reached around her back and untied the laces of her dress, pushing the fabric roughly from her shoulders. Abi wriggled out of it, leaving her in her under-shift, the material so thin it was almost transparent.

Reid’s eyes darkened as he looked her over. He pushed her down again, one hand bunching the thin material then tearing it free. Abi grabbed the ties on his breeches, pushed them down his legs and tossed them away. They were both naked now and cool air played across Abi’s skin, raising gooseflesh along her arms and legs. She barely noticed.

Reid dominated her vision. She could not keep her eyes—or her hands—off him. The sight of him naked before her sent her already racing pulse up another notch. There was not an inch of fat on him, just smooth skin and sleek muscle, strong thighs and arms. Yet his touch was gentle, light as gossamer as he ran the tips of his fingers across her stomach. Abi shivered, her eyes sliding closed.

A moment later, Reid’s mouth covered her nipple and began to caress it with his tongue. Abi gasped, arching her back and tangling her fingers in his thick, tousled hair.

Reid’s big hand slid across her belly and down to the sweet spot between her legs. Abi groaned as he slipped a finger inside her.

This was too much. She couldn’t bear it. Sensations rocketed through her so fast she couldn’t keep track of them. Her skin tingled. Her blood boiled.

As if sensing her need, Reid lifted himself onto his knees, pushed her legs apart and positioned himself between them. His eyes burned with desire as he stared down at her.

“Are ye sure this is what ye want, lass?” he asked in a hoarse voice.

Was he kidding? “I want you, Reid,” she replied. “I want every inch of you.”

It was all the invitation he needed. His chest heaved as he pulled in a breath then dropped onto her, his hands resting on the bed to either side of her face, his nose almost brushing hers, his breath tickling her lips. He stared into her eyes as he settled himself against her, pushing her legs wider and then tilting his hips.

With a slow, deliberate motion, he slid inside her. Abi gasped at the sensation as Reid filled her, driving himself deep.

His lips parted and a low groan escaped him. “Abigail,” he whispered. “Ye are mine.”

She couldn’t answer. She couldn’t speak. She could only clutch him as he began to move, making love to her in slow, deep motions that sent an agony of delicious sensations coursing through her.

God, she had never felt anything like this. This wasn’t just sex, this was something else. Something deeper, something more. She felt whole in a way she never had before as they moved together, Reid grinding into her and Abi moving to meet him. She clutched at his back, feeling the way his muscles bunched and released in time to his movements, feeling the way his hair brushed her cheek, feeling the way his chest slid against hers. It was electric.

Gradually, Reid’s tempo increased and Abi matched him. That pool of heat between her legs was spreading. It ran through her veins like quicksilver, burning away all conscious thought until there was nothing but her and Reid in the whole universe. She began to lose herself. She arched her back, screwed her eyes tight shut as Reid hammered into her, taking her body to heights of pleasure she had never imagined could exist.

“Reid,” she panted. “Reid.”

The fire grew and grew until finally, it engulfed her, became an inferno that blasted through her and she exploded into orgasm, crying out as ecstasy sizzled along every nerve. Reid was saying her name over and over again as his movements became frenzied until finally he jerked and then held himself still inside her as he reached his peak. A moment later, he collapsed on top of her.

Abi kept her eyes screwed closed as the sensations slowly ebbed. In their wake came a heavy feeling of contentment. She opened her eyes. Reid had his face buried in her shoulder and he was panting heavily. They both were. Abi wrapped her arms around his sweaty back and kissed his hair.

Finally, he lifted his head and looked at her. The smile he gave her stole her breath. Holy crap, did he realize how gorgeous he was? Did he have any idea of what he’d just done to her? How amazing that had been?

He dipped his head and gave her a long, slow kiss. “My Abigail,” he whispered.

My Abigail. Oh heck, how she loved hearing that.

He lifted himself off her and shifted onto the bed, lying on his side with his head propped on his hand. Abi rolled to face him so there was only a few inches between them. She placed her palm against his chest over his heart, feeling how it was racing fiercely.

“So I’m your Abigail, am I?” she asked.

He took her hand, raised it to his mouth, and kissed it. “Aye, lass. Ye are. And I am yers, for as long as ye’ll have me.”

That would be forever as far as Abi was concerned. He was hers. Reid Campbell—or Muir—was hers. She could barely contain the euphoria that swept through her at that thought. He was her...what? Boyfriend? Lover? Both seemed paltry words to express what he was beginning to mean to her. Whatever it was, right now, she wanted to stay in this room with him forever. Let the outside world go to hell.

But in the back of her mind a faint unease hovered.Tell him, a voice whispered.Tell him the truth about where you’re really from. How can this be real until you do?She pushed the voice aside, refusing to let it ruin this moment.

“Aye,” she said, mimicking his accent. “I’ll take ye, Reid Campbell. Ye’ll do, lad. Ye’ll do.”

He laughed, a sound of pure joy, and then kissed her again, pulling her on top of him. “Then I’m yers to do with as ye please, my lady.”

She raised an eyebrow as she straddled him. “Oh? Then I have a few things in mind. Clear your diary, my lord, you won’t be going anywhere for a while yet.”
