“Before the announcement of the king and queen,” Jordan tacked on shooting them a glance.
“What was that look about?” Devon asked.
“Oh, yeah, seems we weren’t the only ones taking Stephanie down. The student body voted for write-ins instead of the people on the list,” Mel admitted.
“I thought they didn’t announce the winners,” Gail said.
“They didn’t make the big announcement, but Stephanie wanted to know who won and when they opened the card…” Tate said shaking his head.
“Who won?” Anna asked.
“The most brilliant girl in the world and her loyal sidekick,” Tate answered bowing to Mel.
“Sneakiest I’d say,” Devon said shooting her a grin that Jordan didn’t like.
“Mmm, sweetest, most talented, amazing, beautiful, wonderful and mine,” Jordan countered pulling her tightly against his body.
Mel shot him a glance no one else could see inquiring as to what his game was but he simply smiled down at her making her heart race with need.
“I’m sorry to cut this short but I need Mel’s opinion on our house, and since they are her plans, we can’t do it without her,” he said leading her away from the group.
“Would you like to tell me what this is really about Jordan?” she inquired once they were out of earshot. “You don’t need my opinion on the house. Is this about Devon?”
“I don’t like the guy Mel. He’s interested in you and he’s not backing down as he should when it comes to another man’s wife.”
“Don’t you trust me?” she asked raising an eyebrow.
“Of course I trust you Mel. I don’t trust him to take no for an answer. I don’t want anything to happen to you baby, you’re too important to me to not make sure that you’re safe.”
“Jordan I’m fine. Devon’s not going to try anything and even if he did, I do happen to know several ways of defending myself. My husband made sure of that,” she said with a grin as she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him. It went on a bit too long and soon the guys from the crew saw and started up their ruckus.
“Feel like driving me to work tomorrow Mr. Turner? Oh I’m sorry, Mr. Holmes?” she asked as they broke apart.
“You don’t need anything from the Jeep?”
“The only thing I need is your lips on mine.”
“Which set?” he asked laughing at the blush that invaded her cheeks. “I love that I can still do that Mel, but now I want to see it spread.”
“Then take me home oh dear husband of mine and you can see what does and doesn’t make me blush still,” she grinned.
Chapter 15
They didn’t make it into the office on Saturday and decided to stay home Sunday as well. He dropped her off at the Jeep on Monday and she grabbed her bags before heading to class. She made it to her ethics course without running into anyone but when she walked in half the room turned to stare at her.
“Did you enjoy your weekend?” Anna asked as she sat down.
“It was heaven.”
“I think we all know why you married the man now. I mean whoa, the heat coming off you two was enough to curl my straight hair,” Gail teased.
“Please tell me he’s the best lover in the world or I might cry,” Anna added.
“I don’t have anything to compare it to, but I can say the movies have nothing on us,” she told her.
“Wait, nothing to compare it to? Were you a virgin when you two got together?” Gail asked dropping her voice to a whisper.
“Until after the wedding.”
