“What do you say?”
She shakes her head from side to side. “That’s just crazy.”
“And a heck of a detail to add to our conception story.”
“You’re still stuck on that?”
“What do you say?”
She cocks her head to the side. “To the conception story?”
“To the bus?”
Her shoulders slump. “What about Bianca?”
“Prince had an emergency back home and took her with him. Natasha is around, but she lives in a smaller bus, with Slay.”
“Does everyone from my hometown now have a Hunk boyfriend?” she snickers.
“Does that mean I’m your boyfriend?”
“Don’t push it.”
Desperate to spend more time with her, I say, “You know, living on the bus would be quite the scandal for your family. Your father just might double your inheritance to get you back.”
“Do your friends know I’m pregnant?”
“Nope, just Carl, who is my boss, and Armando, who’s my BBF.”
“You mean BFF?”
“No, BBF—Best Bus Friend.”
“Got it.”
“If that’s what you’re concerned about, no one should be able to tell if you wear baggy clothes.”
“Fine. You win. I’ll go along with your crazy plan and stay a few days on that bus of yours, but don’t expect me to call you my boyfriend. We’re just…getting to know each other. So we can find the best way to co-parent.”
This is it. My chance to show Samantha I can be the man she needs me to be and make her mine. I just need to play my cards right and hope to God I can convince Carl to take her on.
Because if I don’t, there’s no telling when I’ll get to see her next.
EIGHTEEN
Samantha
“Let me get this straight:you want to move your girlfriend onto the tour bus?”
“I’m not his girlfriend,” I interject.
Carl sets his deadpan gaze on me for all of a moment before speaking to Toxic again.
“It’s only for a week,” Toxic says. “So we can sort some things out.”
Carl looks at me. “Is she the girl you knocked up?”
My brow lifts at his choice of words, not that I haven’t earned them.
