Sometimes,there is no clear roadmap to success. You walk around blindly in the dark, hoping not to fall off a cliff.
That’s pretty much how it felt with Samantha a week ago, but after our hotel rendezvous, I finally think I understand her.
I snap a picture of pages ten and eleven of her droid daddy questionnaire and attach them to an email.
SEND.
Her message bubble pops up immediately.
Samantha:That’s all?
Toxic:You’ll get more when I get more.
Samantha:Are you threatening to withhold important questions about my droid’s paternal line in exchange for sex?
This is a pivotal moment in our relationship. One that could forever crack the foundation we’ve laid.
But we have to grow from what we are, taking leaps of faith and trusting that the other has good intentions.
Toxic:Have you made an appointment with a doctor yet?
Samantha:oh…that…
Toxic:Are you scared?
Samantha:no, I’m compartmentalizing
Toxic:explain
Samantha:My life is about to be turned on its head. I’ve worked hard to create a successful business, and in order for it to survive the current situation, I need to get some ducks in a row.
Toxic:Tell me about these ducks.
Samantha:hire an assistant, automate some processes, get face time in with a few important peeps
Toxic:Don’t most initial appointments happen within 8 weeks? It’s well beyond that.
Samantha:Some women wait several months. I’m not at high risk, so I don’t feel the need to move fast.
As annoyed as I am by her putting the appointment off, I see her point. As soon as she sees the doctor, she’ll have to schedule several more visits, and things she could previously put off become obligations.
But what can I do to lessen her burden? It’s not like I can quit the Hunks to help run her business. That would be ridiculous.
