I shove money at her as she crawls from the bunk. Prince slides out after her, confused.
“Why does she need her butthole waxed?” he whispers.
“Because she doesn’t want the doctor to see it stubbly.”
“Do you think they’ll care?” Prince reasons.
Samantha turns around and snaps, “I care!”
It takes Bianca ten minutes to wax Samantha, who curses so loudly that the entire bus wakes and gathers around to investigate.
As we’re about to exit the bus, a feral scream stops us in our tracks. I look outside, fists ready.
Armando is sprawled on the pavement with three chairs scattered around him.
I rush over to help him. “What the hell happened?”
“Shit,” he grumbles. “I think I broke my leg.”
Carl comes over and squats. “Well, you’re in luck, because Samantha’s on her way to the hospital.”
Despite his pain, Armando’s face lights up. “Congratulations!”
Slay, Prince, Kilo, and Jacek bring him on a makeshift stretcher to the RV. Luckily, Kilo has EMT training and knows what to do.
Elliot and Maria ride with us, excited to meet little droid. I hear him talk to her about law school, which I’d love to put her through. Maybe if I win another poker tournament, I can look into it.
The RV hauls ass when I want it to, and we get there quickly. Armando goes to the ER while Samantha and I head to the maternity ward.
It only takes an hour of pushing before we meet little droid, who is a lady droid.
“What should we name her?” Samantha asks.
“Leia,” I blurt.
“We’re not naming her after a Star Wars character!”
“Then how about JoeMantha?”
“Huh?”
“It’s a mix between Joe and?—”
“No!”
“Then you pick.”
“I like Eva.”
“Eva, it is.”
Wayne and Dorrine arrive with Momma and my nieces, and we take pictures as an entire family.
Before they leave, Maria pulls me aside, looking uneasy.
“What’s wrong?”
“Elliot says I should go to law school.”
