Garrett’s knuckles are white from gripping the steering wheel. “I don’t know if I can be the man you need me to be.”

“Just do what ya did back at yer shop…only…be nicer afterward.”

He glances askance at me, tight-faced and condemning. “Do you have a lot of men like me back in LA?”

I exhale, unsure of how much of my dating resume I should put out there. “I’ve had sex. A bunch of times with a bunch of people. Some of it casual, some more serious. I learned almost immediately the nature of Hollywood men, and that made it easier. They want to be seen with me, they want fuck me, and then, they want to move on to the next trophy.”

Garrett looks at me sullen. I can tell it’s a lot for him to process.

“To be honest, none of those men have ever been like you. You gave me something I’ve never had before. It kind of scares me, because I’m afraid I’ll never have it again.”

“I get it,” Garrett whispers. “I feel it too.”

“And no, I don’t have any men on speed dial. It’s been a stretch since I’ve last been with a man…well, not counting you.”

“I can’t believe any man wouldn’t treat you right. That they wouldn’t move heaven and Earth just to be with you. Something’s wrong with Hollywood folks.”

“They can often have anyone they want, so why have a woman with expectations of them?”

“Because when you meet those expectations, when you see that genuine smile, when you feel her thighs quivering against your cheeks, it’s like a drug you never wanna have to go without.”

“Really, Garrett? Really? That’s what you bring to our heartfelt conversation?”

“Nothing but the truth, Kitty Kat.”

“Well, what do you say? Wanna rekindle whatever it is we had going on?”

“I have to admit, that is quite a tempting offer.”

“Then let’s hurry up and go shopping, drop the groceries off, and hightail it up to the loft. No one has to be none the wiser. I’m a grown woman, and I can make my own choices. I choose you.”

Garrett licks his lips, and thinks on it a minute before replying with, “Your wish is my command.”

Well, that didn’t take a lot of convincing.
