Ted:You’ve been dropped from playing Purple Legion. Other studios may follow suit.

I feel the color drain from my face as I read and reread the text, hoping that my eyes are deceiving me, or that Ted’s playing some kind of a joke.

But Ted’s not one to joke, especially about matters this dear. Still, this doesn’t make any sense—I’m literally at the top of every search engine.

Ali Kat:How? People love my stories, and it’s not like anyone is pressing charges.

Ted:People love a good train wreck, Tammy. That’s why they can’t look away. You’re looking at a future in reality television, lifetime movies, and scream queen horror. If you’re willing to flash some skin, I’d say you could play second-seat in another blockbuster. If you go indie, might be some awards in it for you.

Ali Kat:But-but—this isn’t fair.

Ted:Life isn’t fair, Ali Kat. Caleb and I are flying in tomorrow and we have some tricks up our sleeves, but you have to trust us. Believe it or not, we’re both looking out for your best interest.

Hot tears make it past my lids, sliding down my cheeks. For the first time in my adult life, I thought that I could have everything, my family, my fame, true friends…I lost out on the guy, but there’d be others.

But it looks like in order for anything good to come into my life, there must be great sacrifice.
