“Good for you. Once everyone starts to dance, we should be okay.” I nod and return to my seat. Sola says she had to leave as well, and I get to watch her stuff. She leaves, and before I know it, Teni is back next to me, not saying anything, which is fine. I take a few pictures with the other guests at the table and text them to Daniel. Finishing my drink, I get another. By half bottle of the wine cooler, I start to feel dizzy. I get up and went to Nkem.

“I’m feeling tired. I need to go and rest,” I say to her.

“Are you sure you’re just tired?” She looks at me, concerned.

“Yes. Check on me in an hour, okay?” I take out my extra room cards and give it to her.

“Okay,” she says and I head to the room.

On the way, Teni stops me.

“Are you okay, Anu? You are sweating.”

“I’m fine, just a little tired.”

“Let me walk you to your room and make sure you are safe.”

“No need,” I say. My eyes are getting blurry.

“Come on. My dad would be pissed if he hears something happened to you and I didn’t help.”

“Fine,” I say, taking his hand.

In the room, someone is helping me out of my clothes.

“Daniel, I don’t feel good,” I say.

He pushes me and squeezes my breast. His hands are all over body, not gentle

“Daniel, I’m tired.” I slur.

I can barely keep my eyes open. I feel like throwing up. I let it all out and lay back down.

When I wake up, I race to the bathroom to throw up again before realizing I’m naked and my dress is on the floor, and the room reeks of foul smell. I pull the sheets and go to shower. I call Nkem.

“Did you check on me last night?”

“I came in and called out to you. You answered, saying you were fine. So, I left. Is something wrong?”

“No. The room smells awful, and I just threw up.”

“Are you okay?”

“Yeah. Can we request a change of room?”

“Okay. Let me know when you are ready.”

I check my phone to see lots of missed calls from Daniel. I immediately call him, and he answers on the first ring.

“Princess, are you okay?” I hear concern in his voice.

“I’m fine. I must have had too much to drink last night that I knocked out.”

I don’t want to tell him I threw up or the fact I can’t find his shirt that I slept in the night before. It’s all weird to me and he wouldn’t like it.

“But you are okay, yeah?”

“I promise I’m fine, just getting dressed and joining Nkem and a few friends for breakfast before we head out.”
