My sister Sarah had sent me some information about her friend Emma needing help. Not wanting to jump into whatevermess it may be, but I promised her I would review it and get back to her. As I read through the information, my phone rings. It’s Anu. My heart races and I find myself grinning.

I answer the call and put the documents away.

“Hey,” I say

“Daniel,” she says, her voice sleepy.

“How are you, princess?”

“I’m good, just got home not too long ago from my dad’s dinner. He’s officially seventy-two.”

“Good, hope you had fun celebrating with him.”

“I always have fun with my dad, until he starts to match make me is when we don’t agree.” I chuckle.

“Any matching making today?”

“He tried but I told him I’ve a boyfriend.”

My smile is immediate.That’s right

“What did he have to say to that?”

“He brushed it off, but I made him agree not to send anyone to my door for now.”

“Did he?”

She yawns.

“For now, yes.”

“Hope, I didn’t disturb you. I’m the only one awake, everyone else is sleeping.”

“No, I’m awake. Just had a visit from Jacob.”

She giggles.

“I forgot to mention him; he probably came for the garbage and his pastries.”

“That’s what he said, he was sure you had pastries for him.”

“Yeah,” she drawls. “I make sure not to forget. He likes them, they are his payment for taking my garbage out.”

I laugh.

“I see, you really do pay in pastries.” She laughs.

“What can I say, people want them, and I like baking.”

“Any other pastry payment I should know about?”

“Can’t think of any now, but I’ll be sure to let you know soon.” She yawns.

“He also mentioned you are his lady.” She laughs.

“He has said he would marry me when he’s older.” I laugh, pretty sure the boy said that to her, but he would have to get in line.

“Whoa, you should let your dad know.” She laughs and another yawn.
