Jordan comes closer.
“Told you she would be all over this,” Jordan says. I nod, and smile at the undertone of Andrea can be too much.
“See you later?” I ask.
“Of course. Andy has tasked me with walking the bride, so I better be there, or she might have me arrested for failure to show up,” Jordan says, making me chuckle, and I believe it too.
“Thanks,” I say, turning to leave. I want to see Anu again, but Andrea will probably say no.
I get in my car and drive back to my dad’s place. I already had my outfit in the car before we left.
Chapter 72
Daniel
My bride is walking towards me in her simple and elegant white satin and lace dress. The dress molds to her curves in every inch. A veil covers her face. I get teary, knowing this moment I will forever cherish. Her arm is hooked with Jordan’s, and he’s beaming with pride. I sent her gifts after leaving Jordan’s place. Her something old is my mother’s chandelier gold earrings; something new is the white gold bracelet I had purchased for her, and her something blue is the ribbon my dad gave me, that was on my mom’s dress. Andrea said she would take care of the something borrowed. Her hair is styled in an updo that looks lovely, but her smile behind the veil is all I can see.
My beautiful bride. The woman I will always love. It feels like her steps are too slow and I need her to move faster so she can officially be mine forever.
“Easy tiger,” Declan teases behind me.
Guess I must have moved in a way that showed my eagerness.
My brothers all came. Luke and Declan brought their wives, Anne and Dele, who are both smiling. Nkem is sitting next to them, and so is Andrea, who I’m quite surprised, is sitting still.
When they get to me, I take Anu’s hand.
“Hello Princess,” I whisper.
She smiles and we turn to my godfather. I’d told him earlier to make it quick. He laughed but agreed.
Saying ‘I do’ was on the tip of our tongues, my bride smiling, her smile always makes my heart smile and today my heart is beaming in joy. Soon as the judge says, ‘You may kiss the bride.’ I take her veil off and I take over her lips in a deep kiss, muting out the loud cheers around me. Anu breaks the kiss and laces her hands with mine before raising our interlocked hands up. Everyone cheers.
“Mr. and Mrs Daniel Wyler,” my godfather shouts excitedly.
I kiss my bride once more in happiness. Nkem races to hug her, along with Andrea. My brothers each pull me into a hug, before I could get to my dad who’s beaming with happiness.
We are soon hugging and cheering with our friends and family and making our way to the reception area that Andrea and Mrs Bell have arranged.
“This is beautiful,” Anu says. “We owe Andrea and Mrs Bell a big thank you.”
“Uncle Dan.” I hear the voice of my niece and turn to see Cara and Maggie. Cara races to hug Anu and me. “You are now my aunty,” she says to Anu.
“Yes, I am,” Anu says, hugging her back.
My sister comes to hug me.
“Congratulations, Daniel,” she says, pulling from the hug, smacking me. “Dad had to call me and send a plane for me.”
“I’m sorry. It all happened so fast.”
“I know, and Sarah is on the phone.” I take the phone from her as she goes to hug Anu. I watch Maggie happily welcome my wife. I turn my attention to the facetime call.
“Hi, big sis,” I say.
“Congratulations, I didn’t know you were dating anyone, she must be very special for you to marry her this quick,” she says.
“She is very special and thank you.”
