Money Makes Me Horny
Fourteen Days Left of Feeling Like I’m Part of a Family
“We got our first adoption!”I wave my phone at Jamie as he steps out of the shower. The bathroom mirror is fogged up. Apparently, his room is the only place on the property with reception. I’m not complaining. “Selleck was the first, of course. I told you the photo of you holding the baby would go viral!”
Water beads across his chest hair, drifting down his torso in meandering rivulets. “Aren’t you supposed to be getting ready?”
“I got distracted. But it’s a good distraction.” I scroll through the notifications, my excitement building. “The Instagram hit five thousand followers already just today. Five thousand, Jamie. And we’ve raised over a thousand dollars from adoptions alone.”
He stares at me, a plush white towel wrapped around his waist. “A thousand?”
“A thousand forty-seven, actually. Arrietty and Calcifer got adopted too!” Another ping lights up my screen, and I grin. “Make that one thousand ninety-seven.”
“Guess I can finally fix up the old pens. Maybe even hire Dean’s crew this time instead of doing it all myself. I could put some aside for the girls’ college…maybe even expand the second floor so they could have their own rooms.” He bites his lower lip, lost in thought at the edge of the walk-in shower.
His en suite bathroom is simple, with all the essentials, but spacious, comfy, and inviting, just like his bedroom. His sheets are the real winner—I could stay in them all day…and honestly, I did. They’re flannel, with the most ridiculous holiday print: little trucks carrying Christmas trees covered in snow. It’s absurdly cute.
