Gina laughed so hard at my question that it immediately made her forget she was mad. Once she had collected herself again, she grabbed my face, and we fell right into another kiss. Every time Gina put her lips on mine, it reminded me that I never wanted it to be the last time. I was completely and utterly obsessed with this girl.
“Thanks for bringing me here tonight. I had so much fun.”
“I’m happy you came. These thirsty niggas been dying to see me with somebody.”
“Do you think they like me?”
“I think they like you more than they like me. I may have just lost my whole crew to you.”
We both laughed together. I honestly wouldn’t have even minded losing my crew to Gina, as long as I got to play the background. With a woman like her in my life, there wasn’t much more I could or even wanted to ask for.
I never got the feeling I could always see play out on Cap’s and Top’s faces when they were with their women, but Gina made me understand that shit. Now that I had her, I more than understood it. I felt it. She smiled the whole night, and every time her face lit up, so did my heart.
I was happy she was having a good time with my people. The way she easily meshed with the girls and how well Cap and Top had taken to her let me know that she would gel perfectly with my military family. Her being able to vibe with my military family was all I really needed because I spent more time with them than I did with my family. Besides, if my parents thought I was about to give up Gina to marry Lacy, I would get ready to cut them off for good.
“Y’all ready to get out of here?” Cap asked.
“So now that your team has won, you ready to go?”
“We can’t stay here all night, Nissa.”
Top and I laughed at Cap and Nissa, knowing they would go back and forth all night like an old married couple if we let them. They had been together the longest, and you could definitely tell. They were also inseparable at work and at home. They were the true definition of best friends and lovers.
I admired what they had, but I never felt like I could have it for myself until I met Gina. I was able to see how beautiful and fine she was the night I bumped into her at the bar, but tonight showed me something beyond that. Tonight solidified that I could have the type of love my boys had, and I wanted that shit. I wanted it bad.
“Come on, baby.”
Top grabbed Lexi’s hand and led her toward the front door. Gina and I followed suit because I was not about to sit there and listen to Cap and Nissa debate all night. Besides, I had more than one reason for wanting to get my girl to the house. The way her jeans hugged that ass was the number one reason.
“Thank y’all so much for letting me tag along tonight.”
Gina was the first to speak once we were outside in the parking lot. She hugged Anissa before moving on to Alexis. The girls were all smiles as they said their goodbyes,
“Oh, we locked in for life,” Anissa said as her sister released Gina. “Method, make sure you bring her next week.”
“Nah, because the whole way over here, she made like she couldn’t even bowl, then want to get in here and stunt on me. I got something for that, though,” I joked as I smacked her ass hard, and she rubbed it in response. I wanted her to think about that smack on the ride home so she’d already be prepared for the punishment I was about to unleash once I got her to my bed.
“No, seriously. It was nice meeting you, Gina. Come back anytime,” Top chimed in.
Top was the quietest of the bunch, and most of the soldiers thought he was mean. The fact that he embraced Gina so freely let me know she was the one. He usually took forever to warm up to somebody, so the fact that she’d won him over in a night told me everything I already knew. She was special, and I wasn’t the only person to see it.
“Will do,” Gina replied as we all went our separate ways.

Gina
“It’s my dad. I should probably take this. He’s been calling since last night.”
I kissed Ramel on the cheek and left the studio. I wouldn’t have minded having a conversation with my dad in front of him, but since it had been so long since we spoke, I had no idea how it would go. I’d always been a daddy’s girl, growing up, but the older I got, the less I recognized either of the people who made me.
“Is everything okay, Dad?” I answered, wanting him to get the point so I could get back to work.
“Does something have to be wrong for me to want to talk to my one and only princess?”
“No, I just figured you guys were busy with your tour.”
