Chapter

Nine

Gina

I smiled at the sight of Ramel leaning against his truck outside of Ms. Audry’s diner. He was still dressed in his uniform, letting me know he had come straight from work. That uniform looked so damn good on him.

Ramel was clean-cut, and he always looked well put together. The uniform he wore looked like it had just come out of the cleaners, but that wasn’t anything new. Everything about the man standing in front of me spelled sharp, not only in the physical sense but also mentally.

As usual, Ramel had the whole diner buzzing. The girls had already warned me he was waiting outside for me to clock out, but I still couldn’t stop the smile from spreading when our eyes met. His smile matched mine as he walked toward me with open arms.

“You had a good day at work, or you just happy to see me?”

“A little bit of both,” I said as he released me from the hug he had me wrapped in.

“You down to hang with me for a little bit?”

“I guess I can. I wasn’t going to do anything but go home and watch TV.”

“I got something better than TV. Come on.”

Ramel walked around to the passenger door to open it for me, and I climbed in. His truck always smelled good, and nothing was ever out of place. He was the definition of a clean man, and I was obsessed with it.

“You mind if we stop by my place? I want to get out of this uniform.”

“No, that’s fine.”

It didn’t take us long to make it from the diner to Ramel’s place since he didn’t stay too far from base. I was glad we stopped because I needed to use the bathroom myself. I was bad about holding my pee. My mom always told me it would catch up with me one day, and I wasn’t hoping it wasn’t this day.

“I’m glad we stopped. Can I use your restroom?” I asked as soon as we were on the other side of his door.

“Yeah, use the one up front. I actually got something in there for you.”

I almost didn’t pay attention to that last part, but when I made it to Ramel’s bathroom, I almost started crying. There was a little, black, thin-strapped dress hanging on the back of the door. On the sink was a vase with one long-stemmed rose and a note that readopen meleaning against it.

“What is this?” I asked, more to myself since Ramel was all the way in the other room and couldn’t hear me. Moving over to the sink, I opened the card, completely forgetting about how badly I had to use the restroom. Within seconds, I had torn it open, fighting back tears to see it clearly.

I hope you didn’t think I would forget about your birthday. Happy Birthday, beautiful. Get dressed, and let me take you out.

When Ramel and I were seated, I was still in disbelief that someone had actually taken the time out of their day to plan something for my birthday. He’d reserved a table at the mostpopular steakhouse in town for the occasion. I was smiling from ear to ear as I looked around to admire the décor.

The décor was beautiful, and although the place was dimly lit, I could still make out the details. The color scheme gave off a sultry ember vibe as if the place was made for romance. I could smell the beautiful aroma of the food and knew anything I ordered would be good. I could tell by the smiles on the faces sitting at nearby tables that this place was one to remember.

All of my good thoughts were confirmed once I took the first bite of my medium-rare steak. The meat was so tender. My teeth literally sank into it with each bite. Not only was the steak good, but the asparagus was probably the best I’d ever tasted, and everything paired well with the creamy mashed potatoes they were served with.

“How’s everything?” the waitress asked, pulling me from the very intimate moment I was having with the plate in front of me.

“Let’s ask the lady.” Ramel replied, looking over at me.

This man was so damn fine. Ramel was dressed in a black tee that made the gold chain that hug around his neck shine even brighter. The shine from his necklace was only matched by his perfectly white smile that made my pussy wet every time he flashed it in my direction.

“Everything is good. Thanks for bringing me here.” I smiled back, only having eyes for him.

“Well, if you two need anything, just let me know.” The waitress turned on her heels to give us privacy.

“I was happy to,” he replied as soon as she was gone.

“Yeah, but you didn’t have to.”
