“We going to the gym today babe yuh member?” My eyes on him.
He looks at me. “Yeah mi member.” He looks back at Zahir and I focus on eating.
After that, I approach Zahira as Nickoi bonds with Zahir for now. She looks at me and makes up her face to cry when I attempt to lift her up. My mouth gapes and I clutch my heart.
“Me you a do so miss?”
“Come on let’s go upstairs,” I lift her and to my surprise, she’s quiet. I ascend the stairs with her. As I do, she stares fascinatingly at my bonnet. I push the door and place her on the bed. She has her cute little pout as she plays with the cushions. I smile to myself and start pecking her finger and she ignores me. I start kissing her cheeks and she giggles.
“Ye man,” I laugh. My phone rings and I notice that Gavin is calling me on FaceTime. I slide the screen while fixing the button on Zahira’s clothes.
“Rise and shine!” his voice blares through the speaker.
I laugh. “You know you really nuh affi loud so,” he starts laughing too.
“Mi have to loud fi the people dem a the back!” He grins.
“Chro,” I smile because he’s the King of comebacks.
“How you sleep?”
“Good,” I retort and he tilts his head looking at me.
“What?” I’m conscious.
“You nuh plan fi give me more God children?” He teases and I smile sheepishly.
“No,” I say.
“Yuh sure?” he asks.
“Yes, wah do yuh Gavin?” I can’t stop laughing when I’m talking with him.
“You a glow sah, like yaw firefly,” he says in a funny tone. He’s smiling mischievously.
“Why you say that?” I ask.
“Cause you a glow,” he answers while biting a burger.
“Ohh,” I say then I decide to change the topic. “Isn’t it too early for burger?”
“It never too early fi full mi gut mi love,” he answers taking another bite. Ishake my head while smiling. Zahira grabs my bonnet in her fist, tugging at it while grabbing my hair in the process.
“Ow!” I hold my head down trying to take it from her grip while Gavin cracks up on the phone, calling his friend to look. I finally loosen her grip.
“Ma,” she says. She wants to hold it, I see. I take it off, allowing my hair to flow down as I put it on her head. She’s still holding it and I start focusing on the call again.
“Zai bad up a gyal and tek wah she want!” Gavin jokes when he’s now seeing my wig. I hiss playfully.
“Zai mi baby a so we go at it in life, we go fi wah we want you hear?” Gavin says making me laugh more.
“Zai fascinated by everything weh she nuh suppose to touch,” I tell him.
He chuckles.
“Anyways you know say the boy weh Sash did a talk to up a the shop, and har deh though? Sash say a did her high school boyfriend and him did migrate and the relationship mash up,” Gavin says surprising me.
“Wow mi did know mi see something spark,” I smile.
