Same with my heart.
Surprisingly, Eddie doesn’t startle until we’re about to land. If I hadn’t dozed off myself, I’d have been able to intercept the attendant when she came around to tell us we were landing.
As it stands, I’m not too happy with the way she looks at us. I’m not sure if she’s jealous of one of us or if there’s another reason her gaze can’t stop landing on us. Either way, I’ll probably have to shoot a message to the company to let them know to be more discreet in the future. I don’t want pictures or stories about me and my boy appearing in the news.
While they’ve speculated about our relationship in the past since we’re photographed together so much, no one has been able to pin down a solid story about us. Now though, things are different.
I want to protect what we’re building. What we’ve built.
He may only just now be mine in the romantic sense, but Eddie’s been a part of me for far longer. Maybe since the beginning if I stop to think about it.
“Why are you so tense?” Eddie asks as soon as we’re in the private car I hired to pick us up.
The driver closes the door with a dip of his head. I put up the partition to give us privacy before answering him.
“The attendant was a touch too friendly to my liking. Plus she woke you up and made you get out of my lap. I don’t like that.”
He giggles, delighted at my confession. “Oh, Daddy. Don’t be upset with her doing the job she’s supposed to.”
“Her job took you away from me. That’s unacceptable,” I growl as I tug him into my lap again.
Eddie doesn’t fight me on the move. Instead, he leans his head against my chest like before. This time is different though. He’s the one rubbing me, his small hand smoothing down my shirt in a rhythmic fashion.
“Daddy is so silly sometimes. No one could ever take me away from you. I’ve been waiting for this, for us. I don’t even see those other people.”
My heart rate calms at his words.
“Thank you, baby,” I whisper as I press a kiss to the top of his head.
We remain quiet the rest of the way home since there isn’t anything left to say. I find the silence peaceful when he’s in my arms. I don’t feel the need to check my emails or rush into the office. It’s as if I’m a completely different man.
The driver allows me to punch in the access code, then he pulls up to the front entry. After a generous tip, he leaves us to ourselves.
And we are absolutely to ourselves. I gave the rest of the staff the night off after making sure they took care of everything we’d need this evening.
“Go ahead and open the door. I’m going to get our bags.” I pat Eddie’s pull-up clad bottom, then watch as he shuffles to do as I say.
I never would have thought this would be my life, yet I can’t deny how happy it makes me. The pull-up portion of our dynamicgives us something new outside of the years of friendship and trust we’ve built.
Personally, I find it only makes me love my boy more. To know he wants to give me submission to such a degree is beyond my wildest dreams. I intend to make sure he never regrets choosing me as his Daddy.
Inside the entry, the surprise I asked Davies to help coordinate awaits us. Eddie’s gasp clues me in before I can see for myself. What I don’t expect are the tears falling down his cheeks when he whips around to leap in my arms.
Dropping out bags, I latch onto him. “What’s wrong!?”
He shakes his head. “Nothing. Absolutely nothing. It’s…”
“It’s…” I urge him to finish.
“It’s amazing. Perfect. I’m not going to be able to think of any more big words, Daddy.”
I laugh at how he shifts into his Little side right before my eyes. Walking us over the threshold, I take in the decorations. I can see now why my boy wants to sink into his safe space.
Balloons and streamers cover every inch of the stairs and living room area. There’s a cake on the table in the same baby blue and soft purple shades as everything else. Best of all, there’s a banner above the mantle that says, “Welcome home, Eddie Baby!” on it.
“Glad to see people can follow instructions,” I mutter as I take him deeper into the house. I’ll get our bags later. They aren’t as important as making sure my baby is taken care of.
Once we’re seated, he spins to look over the cake. The design is fairly simple, though the words on it hold more meaning than I think he expects.
