The day I left with him; we had decent sex together he even apologized to me for just about everything. I was surprised when I woke up still lying next to him. Something didn’t feel too right with that, because I never spent the night with him. After he dropped me off, he promised to drop Lolani off to me by six that evening.

His wife showed up instead without my damn daughter. I whooped her ass and was currently facing charges that Aubry promised to have dropped. I just couldn’t win for losing, I fell into a deeper depression because it felt like the odds were always stacked up high against me. Aubry and his wife had something else to hang over my head. Plus, my mom and dad was pissed off with me once again for bringing drama that I couldn’t control to their doorstep.

It was hard for me to keep Lolani off of my mind. I had this strong urge to fight harder, it seemed like I had been making things too easy with Aubry. Him keeping my daughter away from me was pushing me to my breaking point with waiting things out to handle everything legally. Even doing it the right way too much because I didn’t have my shit together enough to go up against him.

I took accountability in not having the money and my own shit to go up against him with. I was failing my daughter in the worse way possible and needed to hurry and figure some shit out fast to get her full time.

For now, I prayed to God for my baby girl to feel my love through distance. I’ve been calling Aubry for an entire week straight just to beg him to hear her voice. Still there was no correspondence.

“Calissi told me, niggas with them hoop earrings be DL as fuck.” My little sister Kenzuri said.

Her high yellow face turned crimson red from laughing so hard at Naveah’s crazy ass.

“Girl Calissi’s uptight ass doesn’t know what the fuck she talking about. I done got some of the best peen from a hooped earring wearing mutha fucka. That small hoop is just some players shitthat the niggas be on. Nothing more! Goodness, I hate this new generation! Everything a man does is gay! Let these niggas be who the fuck they gone be without saying they gay!” Naveah rolled her eyes.

“You just got to be careful, I ain’t got nothing against the alphabet community. It’s just these DL men ain’t playing fair these days.” I spoke absently.

I leaned my head against my pink sofa and sighed. I wanted to pick up my wine glass and finish the rest but didn’t want my parents blaming me for ruining their night. I looked down at the expensive red Vera Wang gown and shook my head. I didn’t want to be at a Gala with a bunch of uppity rich folks with their noses tooted to the high ceilings. I already knew I didn’t have too much of a choice.

“You okay, Truly?” Kenzuri placed her hand on top of my leg then rubbed in circles.

“No,” I swallowed down the painful lump that crept up my throat and looked away from her so she wouldn’t see my eyes misting over.

“I feel so emotionally drained right now y’all. I don’t know what the fuck I’m doing wrong. I just want to get out of my current situation, move out of this house so I can gain some sort of peace and just do better in life.” I fanned my wet eyes.

“Ya mind in the right place.” Naveah sat up then crawled to the edge of the bed.

“Listen, Truly. I keep telling you, to boss up on that nigga Aubry. I get the entire situation, but you have got to stop letting that nigga play you like a fiddle. Now I’m glad you whooped that bitch Ashley ass, but I’m mad you slept with that nigga. Imean damn, you couldn’t just hit and quit his ass same night!” Naveah’s voice elevated.

“That ain’t no good advice to say. She doesn’t need to sleep with him at all. I don’t know, something just doesn’t seem right with him or that Ashley chick.” Kenzuri stated.

She stood up and started to pace slowly in front of me. Kenzuri was very mature to only be twenty years old. Normally her intuition about things and people were always right in a creepy way.

“You came home the next day with a headache, you ignored mommy yelling at you. You climbed those steps, came in here and went right to sleep. You were throwing up when you woke up and claimed that you hadn’t even drunk much with him. Wait—” Kenzuri frowned as she turned toward me with a look of disgust and anger.

“Do you think that nigga drugged you?” She asked through gritted teeth.

“I don’t know Zuri…I don’t want to believe that he would scoop so low. I already planned to fuck him just so I could spend last weekend with Lolani. I don’t understand why he would even want to drug me when he knew he would get the pussy without a fight.” I stated, pissed.

We all remained quiet for a while as I thought back to the day I checked in at the hotel with Aubry. I hit his blunt a couple of times; he ran out to the store and got me some Black Stella Rosa. I had about three to four cups and felt buzzed up from the weed combined with the wine. I remember the first round of sex in the suite’s living room area.

I even remembered us getting in the shower together then sitting in the bed with him talking with another glass of wine he made me…

“I think he did…but I don’t understand why.” I stated, lowly.

“It’s something going on! It’s a deeper reason why that nigga always make it hard for you to see my niece!” Kenzuri shouted a little too loud this time.

“Look, fuck all of that! I’m not about to sit back and let him play you!” Naveah got up from the bed.

“Either he answers you by Monday, or you and I go over to that nice ass house and turn the fuck up.” Naveah snapped her fingers.

“I’m with that too, the three of us can jump his ass then beat that bitch up and snatch Lo Lo up. I got some money saved up, you can have it all and?—”

“It’s time to go.” Calissi said soon as she opened my room door up without knocking.

Instead of me cursing her out for busting inside of my room, I looked at her with adoration. Calissi was drop dead gorgeous. She rocked a pearl white strapless silk gown with a long split that showed her long defined dark brown leg. Her breasts were nearly pushed up to her chin. On her neck was my mom’s pearl choker necklace that she wore on her wedding date. Unlike me, Calissi face was made to the gods.

Her perfume took over my entire room. I eyed her high ponytail that was sleek and flawless and wondered who she went to, to get her hair done.Damn she hates me that much now…she didn’t ask me to do her hair.I shook away my negativethoughts and really took in her posture. She looked nervous as hell. My parents urged her on in her love life, they wanted to see Calissi happily married and ready to work on having them grandchildren since she was nearing thirty.
