A Summary
Before we begin, let's take one last journey Through the Wicked Wood
King Roman Rudhekhas banned all magick outside the Kingdom of Valebridge. Any Enchantress caught using her magick should be brought to his Majesty immediately. Any that fail to comply will meet their death.
After losingher mother and fiance, Cade, against the royal guards and hunters on Kirsgard Mountain, Elora has found solitude in the Trinity Forest near the Galdosa River. She spends her days hunting, forging, and keeping out of King Roman’s sight.
On a fateful afternoon, Sorin Trednik conned his way to the top of another poker game. Only this time, luck wasn’t completely on his side. After a mad dash through Copenspire, with little other options, he plunged in the river in hopes of retreat on the other side.
After staving off two guards and escaping unscathed from two massive wolves, Elora helped Sorin to her cabin where they struck an accord.
She will help him into Valebridge, and he will help her locate the Awakening Stones, the only conduit for awakening magick from Mother Gaia.
One horse theft and several days later, Sorin and Elora arrived in Loxley. A hidden village protected by wards deep in the Trinity Forest. There Elora learned that she is not the only Enchantress outside of Valebridge. Agnes, Sorin’s mother, and Samaria, Sorin’s sister were also Mother-blessed.
Jarek, Galen, Sorin, and Elora formed a plan to retrieve the Stones from the mountain. With the Stones, Samaria would have a chance to awaken the magick she’d longed for since birth and Elora would be able to protect them from landing in the hands of the corrupt king.
Plan in place, the crew set off across Teravie. After a quick stop in Wickersham, Sorin decided it best to avoid the coast and town of Ramshire, where King Roman had the largest outpost of guards stationed. Wanting to protect Samaira and Elora from possible capture, the crew ventured through the wicked wood.
But not before Elora learned of her power.
As a Dyrsjel, she contains not one, but two powers. Elemental magick flowed in her veins, giving her the ability to change one element into another.
The other side of her magick, the Dyrsjel side, granted her the ability to wield the Awakening Stones, giving her the power to guide Enchantresses into their magick.
The revelation of her new magick and wolf companions left Elora stunned. She was only just getting familiar with the wolves when she learned the truth of Sorin’s past.
He is the half-brother to the corrupt King Roman and true heir to the crown.
Caught between wanting to flee and wanting to find the Awakening Stones, Elora ultimately decided the latter is more important. She must find the Stones before King Roman does, otherwise he may be able to access all of Mother Gaia’s magick for himself.
The Wicked Wood is no easy feat and when the crew entered, they knew there was no going back. Sorin reveals his past bargain with the wraith, Grawgeth. To save Samaria in their youth, he sold the last ten years of his life to the nymph and in return she let them live.
As it goes with most evil and wicked things, Grawgeth was not pleased to let them pass through without payment. All the while, the nymph has taken a particular notice of Elora, the last Dyrsjel.
After a dizzying spell of twists and turns, Elora found herself trapped within the wood with the nymph masking herself as her mother. Elora dug deep within herself to find the strength to do what she needed to do, and when she is on the verge of ending Grawgeth’s life, another deal is struck. A deal that will change her life forever.
After narrowly escaping the wood, Sorin and Elora discovered their lives were entangled in more ways than one. In a memory from Sorin, it’s revealed their mothers were friends long ago and in the same memory, there was talk of the Fates.
Neither Sorin or Elora could decipher what the memory meant, but their connection to each other has grown tenfold. Something is forcing their lives to cross and while they aren’t certain the purpose of their fates, they were determined to figure it out together.
After Elora’s injuries from the wood had healed, the crew planned to trek up to Nevek Peak and retrieve the Stones. But before they can, an accident with Ruse tore them apart.
Trapped in a deep trench, the wolf’s injuries impaired her ability to walk and communicate with Elora. With no other choice, Elora traversed down the ditch to help Ruse.
All the while; Sorin, Sam, Jarek, and Galen fought a battle of their own.
Dozens of royal guards and hunters flooded the area around the trench, trapping them. While their efforts were grand, the crew ultimately ended up in capture.
With no weapons and a dampening on her magick, she felt hopeless as the man she used to love, Cade, revealed himself as the mastermind behind her mother’s demise.
After striking a bargain with King Roman for an escape from the mountain, Cade set the attack against Elora’s mother up, hoping for both of their capture to bring to the king.
Elora is then forced up Kirsgard Mountain to retrieve the Awakening Stones. After the Stones are lifted from their resting place, she and the crows fight off the guards, leaving her to flee down the mountain.
All the while, Sorin, Jarek, and Sam woke to find themselves captured by the enemy. Fret neigh, our roguish thief had been bound by his wrists a time or two and broke free just in time to end their captor's lives.
As Elora fled from the mountain, an injury to her leg slowed her down. Alaric met her at the bottom, his stamina also drained from fighting. Not wanting him to get hurt further or risk the lives of any of the crew, she passed Alaric the Stones and surrendered herself to Cade.
