“I know. And Dante?”
“Yes?”
“I might not say this enough, but I appreciate everything you do and have done for me. It’s past time that you take care of yourself. I think an extended vacation will do you good.”
After giving Dante a huge bear hug, he walked out of his office.

CHAPTER 29
Haven and Skylar
“Skylar!”
A huge smile curved Haven’s lips when she opened the door Tuesday evening to find Skylar standing there. He had called last night to let her know that he had decided to accept her invitation to join her family for Thanksgiving and would fly in on Wednesday night. Seeing him earlier than expected made her day.
The moment he crossed the threshold and closed the door, he pulled her into his arms and captured her mouth in a kiss that made her head spin. Even after he released her mouth, his lips trailed a path across her cheekbones, eyelids, and chin.
“I missed you so much, Haven.”
“You didn’t leave here until before dawn on Monday morning. It hasn’t even been two full days, Skylar,” she whispered as his mouth began nuzzling her ear and nipping at her neck.
“It doesn’t matter. I love being with you, and when I’m not, I miss you.”
“Well, you aren’t alone in that. I always miss you when you’re not with me,” she said, taking his hand and leadinghim over to the sofa. When she moved to sit beside him, he pulled her onto his lap and propped his chin in the crown of her head.
“There’s something I need to talk to you about, Haven.”
His tone sounded serious, and she turned to face him. “What is it?” From his somber expression, she knew whatever he had to tell her was important. “What’s wrong?”
“Do you remember me telling you that I’d received a letter from my mother?”
“Yes, the letter was delivered by a brother you had never met, right?”
“Right.”
“I’m sure it’s been on your mind. Did you decide what to do about it?” she asked.
He nodded. “Yes. Thanks to you, I know what I’m going to do.”
She lifted a brow. “Me? How could I have had any impact on your decision?”
“You remember when I told you I had been invited to my brother’s family for Thanksgiving?”
“Yes. Have you decided to go to theirs instead of joining me at mine? If so, that’s okay, Skylar. I understand. Thanksgiving is a time for family, and it’s important that you get to know your siblings, if that’s what you want to do.”
“I’m beginning to think that’s what I want to do.”
She nodded. “Good. It sounds like you made the right decision. Like I said, family is important. Instead of us being together on Thanksgiving, we can spend this weekend together.”
He shook his head. “No, I’m going to do both. I will spend Thanksgiving with my new family…and with yours.”
Haven was trying to follow his train of thought, but it was nearly impossible. “How do you intend to be two places at the same time?”
