“True, but if they only wanted the money, they could have contacted Leanna’s dad.”

“Maybe they did.”

“Or maybe they’re scared of him. They didn’t count on her deciding to come to Mexico.”

“They should have. What mother wouldn’t come running?” Pablo sighed and huffed. “Maybe this is a trap.”

“Then it’s your job to make sure no one gets hurt,” Axe said. “You almost here?”

“Just around the corner. Which room?”

Axe gave him the number and directions to the private parking space. He looked up at Leanna’s window. A corner of the curtain flapped back in place.

She’d seen him. Good.

He wanted her to distrust him.

A frightened woman would be more careful about spilling the beans. She’d keep her mouth shut and her brain sharp.

She’d also burn with anger and want to scratch his eyes out. A furious woman was a hot one, and he didn’t mind getting singed, seared, or scorched by one ferociously hotmamacita.
