“I’d marry you because I love you and want to be with you. I’d do it sooner rather than later so I can move you to California with me, with our families’ blessings. We can spend off season here in Pine Hill.” He bent, kissed her long and hard. “That one wasn’t because of tradition.”

“No?” Morgan smiled up at him.

“That one was for me.” He cupped her face.

“Are you kissing my Mommy?”

Morgan’s eyes widened as she stared up at Andrew, then watched as he knelt to talk to Greyson.

“Yeah, I am. You know I’m leaving for California soon, right, bud?”

Greyson nodded.

“How would you feel if, when I finish my training, I moved you and your mom to California with me?”

“Would we get to live with you?”

Andrew nodded.

Greyson looked up at Morgan. “Would Andy get to come?”

She knelt down next to Andrew so she would be eye level with her son, too. “Absolutely. We adopted Andy into our family, remember?”

“And we’d come back to Pine Hill to visit Grammy and Grampy and Brynne?”

“Every chance we got,” Morgan promised.

Greyson’s gaze turned to Andrew. “Would you be my daddy?”

Andrew ducked his head, and when he raised it again, he was smiling. “If it’s okay with you, I’d like that very much, bud.”

Greyson nodded. “Okay. Now, can we go to Sophie and Isabelle’s so I can show everyone my puppy and tell them you’re going to be my daddy?”

Morgan and Andrew exchanged a look, then Andrew winked at her and the world felt brighter. Part of her couldn’t believe this was happening...but then again, it was the most magical day of the year, one when hope could blossom into reality.

As if he’d read her mind, Andrew said, “Merry Christmas, Morgan.”

“It’s the best Christmas ever!” Greyson called from the floor where he was playing with Andy again.

“He’s right,” Andrew said. “It is the best Christmas ever, but I suspect I’m going to feel that way every Christmas spent with you and Greyson.”

Morgan wrapped her arms around his waist and smiled up at him. “One can hope. Merry Christmas, Andrew.”
