Will I be any good at it? Time will tell. But it's worth a shot. Besides, I'll be able to see all my favorite people. This is my first step in putting down roots in a town I love. With a community of people, I know will be there for me.

"Awesome," Angie claps, "when do you want to start?"

"Is tomorrow good?" I grab another donut and take a bite. "I need to let Delilah know I'm moving in with Eric, and I have a feeling there will be a long talk about that."

"Oh," Carlos furrows his brows, "you're actually going through with that?"

"Yep," another bite, "Delilah and Bryce need their space. Based on how much he seems to be over there, I have a feeling he'll be moving in sooner than later."

"Just be careful with Eric. He's a flirt and nosey as hell."

Angie laughs, and the sound fills the empty bar. "If he wasn't so nosey, you wouldn't be with Caroline. Give the kid a break. He's one of the good ones."

He holds up his hands. "I never said he was bad. But you know how he is."

Shaking my head, I giggle at the two of them arguing. You can tell they're not only business partners but friends. This is what I missed. Hanging out with my family, even if it's at work.

"He's harmless." I wave away Carlos's concern. "I think I made myself pretty clear last night that I wasn't interested. If it takes him more than that to get the hint, that's his problem. Not mine."

"True," he nods.

"I do need to know how much the rent is so I can pay my half. Also, is there a lease I need to add my name to?"

"Tell you want." Carlos claps his hands. "I'll have both of you meet me here, or at the house in the morning and we'll go over everything. Sound good?"

"Yep." I pull my phone out of my pocket and glance at the time. "Crap. I should probably get back. I didn't even let Delilah know I was leaving this morning. I don't want to freak her out."

She may be slightly younger than me, but that girl is a mother hen. Even when I left, she'd constantly send me messages checking in on me to make sure I was okay.

"Here," Angie puts the lid on the donuts. "Take these with you. I'm sure she'll appreciate breakfast."

"Are you sure?"

"Yep. We," she points between herself and Carlos, "don't need to eat all these."

"Speak for yourself." Carlos mutters.

"Okay," I pick up the box, "Carlos, I'll see you in the morning. Angie, see you tomorrow afternoon. If you need me to come in earlier, just text me."

"You got it."

Before they can say anything else, I rush toward the door. I'm not sure what I've done in my life to have such amazing people support me, but I'm not going to take it for granted.

Delilah's car is gone when I pull into the driveway. That's weird. She's an early bird, but I know for a fact she was still asleep when I left.

Once I'm parked, I grab the box of donuts and head inside. Honestly, I could take a cat nap. But I don't want to seem like an ungrateful house guest.

Setting the donuts on the table, I look for things to do. There are a few things out, and dishes in the sink. After washing those, I straighten up the blankets on the sofa. It's not like the house is a mess, but the small chores give me something to do.

She's still not back when I'm finished. I check my phone and don't have any messages from her. Maybe she and Bryce are doing something.

I grab the remote, and turn on the tv before lying down on the sofa. Shoving the closest pillow under my head, I find something to watch.

It's an old comfort movie of mine with fantasy and quests. I doubt most people my age have even seen it, but it's the one good thing my mom ever did for me. This movie has shown me the power of forging unlikely friendships and taking a chance on myself...even when life has other ideas.

"Lisa." I hear my name being called, and I jump up from the sofa. I can't believe I dozed off.

Delilah is standing just inside the door with Bryce behind her. He's carrying something, but I can't tell what it is. "Sorry. I didn't hear you come in."
