Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, the London Eye, Trafalgar Square, Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park, the British Museum, Piccadilly Circus and more!
I was going to go, and it no longer felt like running from my past, but excitement to find myself and take some time to think about what I wanted my future to look like.
I glanced through the papers again and felt my eyes prick with tears. I was going. On the trip I had always planned, the one I dreamed about with my parents.
Faith bumped my shoulder. “It’s a Christmas miracle.”
I chuckled. “I guess it must be.”
I continued to scan the papers. The next page was about my flight. I scanned for the date, wondering if it was all too much to be true.
Your flight leaves?—
“Wait . . .tomorrow?”
Rose smirked. “Well, it’s not like you have to take off work.”
“This is perfect.” Faith grinned.
Nan stood and went out of my bedroom and rolled in a brand-new hard shell lavender suitcase. “Well, don’t just sit there. Looks like you need to get packing.”
“Good thing my passport isn’t expired.” I stood and rushed over to the beautiful purple case, running my hand down the handle. Whoever set this up must know about my mom and purple. Was it Carol?
Nan grinned and gave me a hug. “You deserve this, Mar. This and much more. I hope you go explore and love all you see.” She put my face in her hands and leaned closer. “Especially learn tolove yourself.” She patted my cheek. “Alright ladies, I pass the torch to you. Get this girl ready for her vacation.”
Faith squealed.
Rose walked out of the room and came in with a metal tote. “Let’s start with those nails.” She grinned and came over to the bed.
“Mani/pedis!” Faith cheered.
Could this be happening? I was going to London! But at whose cost? I would've wondered about Scott since we talked about it, and he knows about the purple, but Nan had said it wasn’t from him. Who else could it be though?
Was this Fate giving me permission to be happy and find myself? I wanted to know who it was from, but not enough to give away this chance to go to London. Whoever it was, Fate, an angel, or a Christmas miracle, I knew I would be forever grateful.
I set the suitcase on the bed and opened it. Inside was a box of charging adapters, and a note.
Ihope your trip is all you have dreamed it to be and more. Please be happy.
Scott flashed in my mind. No. I shook my head. I was moving on, and so was he.
Whoever put this together sure did their homework.
“You guys swear you and Nan had nothing to do with this, right?” I asked.
“Promise. We’re only in charge of getting you ready to go,” Faith said.
I thumbed through my flight details for the next day at five a.m., there was a little handwritten note at the bottom.
I picked up the note and turned it over, hoping for a clue of who might be the sender.
P.S. You'll receive emails from me about trip details and receipts should you need them. Feel free to ask if you have questions. Also, please let me know when you arrive safely.
Hmm, this had Scott written all over it. A more romantic side of Scott, but still him. I could not take this trip if it was earned from him using me.It was my pride maybe, but it is what it is.
“Guys, you promise it isn’t from Scott selling the B&B?”
