It was a soft, barely there kiss, and I wanted more.I entwined my arms around his neck and pulled him closer.

Instantly, his lips parted, and our tongues tangled. His fingers dropped from my chin as his arms slid around my waist, pulling me even tighter against his body.

Oh yes.The kiss deepened. My body caught fire, and nothing was going to put it out—short of a week in bed.

A wolf whistle interrupted the kiss, and Asher lifted his head.I moaned and tried to follow his lips.

“We’re in a parking lot,” he whispered.

Yep, the mental bucket of cold water put the fire out.Damn, what was I thinking? One amazing kiss from Asher and I was putty in his arms. This wasn’t like me at all.

“Yes.”I unwound my arms from his neck and tried to step back, but he kept his arms around my waist.I glanced up at him.

“This isn’t the time or place to continue this, but later…” He leaned down and brushed his lips over mine before he whispered in my ear.“The gloves come off.”

Chapter Fifteen

Asher

It was Friday, and I, for one, was never so glad for the weekend. After having dinner with Emma Monday evening—and that scorching kiss after—she was all I could think about.Emma, on the other hand, didn’t seem to have an issue at all.

She’d breezed in on Tuesday like nothing special had happened the night before. It had been special to me.This woman frustrated the living hell out of me.I got zero time alone with her outside of our concentrated coding time. She’d been having lunch with Cassie all week and spending lots of time in customer service, fine tuning the app.

Wasn’t that her job?It was, but I wanted her close. She hadn’t been unaffected by that kiss.I’d seen the dreamy look in her eyes, her surprise when I stepped back and allowed her to get into her car.

My body had demanded more action, but I ignored it.Emma wasn’t a woman to be rushed, but damned if I wanted to wait this long.Tonight, I’d make another move.Because I wanted Emma.

“Crap,” she muttered.

“What’s up?”I glanced over at her screen.

“I finally got the toy section of the app for R&D to work, but now the flogger section won’t work at all.”

Emma and I met with Marcus Tuesday and discussed breaking things up into smaller categories so the app could handle them.Marcus didn’t have an issue with it, but the program was still hiccupping.

“Let me see.”I scooted over next to her and watched the code run on her screen, then stop.“I don’t see anything obvious.”

“No shit, Sherlock,” she muttered.

I opened my mouth to ask her about the attitude when she said, “I’m sorry. You didn’t deserve that.”

She was tense; I could see it.

“What’s wrong?”

She shrugged.“Nothing big.”

I glanced at the clock.“It’s almost four. Why don’t we wrap this up, and head to Whistle Stop?”

“All right.”

I was surprised when she didn’t put up a fuss, but then she and Cassie had become friends, and she knew Cassie would be there. We powered down our computers and gathered our belongings.Emma had gotten used to leaving her laptop in the office since it was locked, and except for Ben and the head of security, we were the only two with key codes.

We were the first ones at the Whistle Stop, not surprising.Marcus usually stayed until four-thirty, and Cassie wouldn’t leave the office without him.I found a table that would hold eight and held Emma’s chair out for her.

“Thank you,” she said.I sat as she took a deep breath and released it.“I didn’t mean to snap at you in the office.”

“It’s fine.”I waved my hand.
