Finally,he turned around and I saw nothing but me in his features. Damn, it was like looking into a mirror that showed you your future self. Knowing I was damn near a carbon copy of this fool infuriated me even more.

He smirked as he sized me up. Once he nodded like he approved of me, I lunged at his ass. I was put down on my back seconds later with his hands at my throat. His grip was tight and stable, yet his words were mellow.

“Don’t get beside yo’self, son. I put pups like you to sleep for fun. Calm the fuck down and talk to me like a man.”

“I ain’t got shit to say to you,” I spoke as best as I could. I was damn near out of oxygen. He wasn’t letting up.

“I got plenty. Sit down and talk like a man, Genesis,” he voiced releasing me. He took a seat and so did Aunt Castina with her sitting next to me. I wanted to question it but left it alone.

“Senior, get it all out but do it quickly. He has to go back before anyone notices he’s gone,” she stated looking at her watch.

Senior nodded but kept his focus on me. It was crazy how we shared the same face and couldn’t see eye to eye. It was somewhat scary being in the same room with the most hated person in my world. I never wanted somebody to see a grave more than him.

“Talk bitch!” I snapped.

“Watch your mouth, Genesis. This his first time seeing you without Adele’s restriction.”

“Don’t bring my mama in this,” I mumbled.

“She got a lot to do with this. After all, she’s the one that started this fucked up ass dynamic. Senior, if you won’t tell him the truth on how we got here as afamily, I will. I got an ass whooping waiting for yo’ punk ass mama by the way,” Castina commented.

Her boldness had me torn on whether to check her for disrespecting my mama or applaud her for having balls the size of Venus. I mean, she spoke like she was untouchable, and I loved that shit. However, that was my mama and whether she had problems with her or not, wasn’t nobody gon’ do shit to her.

“You better watch how the fuck you talk ‘bout my mama. I don’t know shit ‘bout you or this pussy nigga in front of me, but I know what’s up with Adele, and ain’t a muthafucka alive gon’ put they hands on her. Fuck around and see judgement day before time fuckin’ with me,” I threatened giving her nothing but eye contact. I meant every word I spewed.

“Nephew please. I’ll wash you and yo’ mama up in one go,” she waved my threat off like it wasn’t shit.

Her words were laced with arrogance and for some reason, her confidence had me looking at her differently. The rumors of the Atkins consisted of them saying and doing what they wanted with nobody being able to contain them. She had that shit in her for real. I knew a crash out when I saw one.

“Aight, Castina. He still my son,” Senior chimed. She rolled her eyes and waved him off as well. “We can run it from the top then go from there. I really ain’t got shit to hide now. My wife knows you exist so…”

“Fuck you and yo’ trashed ass wife. That hoe wanted me gone the second she learned of me. I ain’t got shit for you or her. I’m ready for my cell,Auntie.” I was declining all conversations with this nigga simply because I wasn’t in the mood for more lies from nobody. I was over the secrecy and backdoor bullshit.

“Genesis, this ain’t black and white. You need to hear what he has to say. It’s more than what you think, for real,” Castina added looking over at me.

“You don’t want to hear what I got to say so tell me what was said to you. Why you hate me so much, son?” Senior questioned.

“Nigga, we ain’t ‘bout to play these games. You know what you did to my mama. She told me all about you promising her the world but because yo’ bitch ass wife found out ‘bout me all them promises were left empty. You ain’t give her shit to take care of me but a bus ticket and a fuck you. Whatever lies you told her, she been holding on to them muthafuckas for years. She shouldn’t have called you for help, but she did. That shit won’t happen again though. I can promise you that.”

Castina shook her head while she released an irritating chuckle. She stood and pressed her back against the cold steel door. I noticed she’d turned red, so the cold door must’ve been her way of cooling down. Looking to Senior, he looked just as annoyed as Castina did. It was obvious my words struck nerves.

“I told you she was gon’ do that crap but ain’t nobody want to believe me. God, I wish Sophie was still alive to witness this mess. I know she done turned in her grave several times over,” Castina commented.

Sophie. I feel like I heard that name before. Damn… where did I hear her name from?

“Look son, me and Adele were never in a relationship for me to promise her anything. If we being honest, I wouldn’t be caught dead with Adele in no shape or form.”

I felt offended for my mama. She wasn’t no ugly broad, and I knew that from how many niggas was on her body daily. “The fuck you trying to say?” I questioned with dipped brows.

He didn’t back down from it. In fact, he answered without hesitation saying, “She ain’t my fuckin’ type. The shit that transpired that night was conniving on her end, which is why so many people are suffering including you. It was one of them nights me and my crew got drunk out of our minds and couldn’t tell a soul apart. Nevertheless, I was in the comforts of my home enjoying myself. At the time Sophie was Adele’s older sister, my wife’s and your aunt Castina’s best friend.”

Her sister? Adele ain’t never say she had a sister.

“Adele wasn’t supposed to be there to begin with because she was never invited. My wife knew the timing she was on, so Sophie kept her at a distance. Adele had a mean obsession with me and no matter how many times I denied her, she wouldn’t stop trying. That night I retired early taking the guest bedroom downstairs. She showed up unannounced and took what she wanted. She came to me on my anniversary months later with a protruding belly and a claim that you were mine.”

“Hold up. You trying to say my mama was on some sheisty shit?” I interjected.

“Nigga, hell yeah. The video she took showed us having sex but what everybody failed to realize was I was damn near lifeless in that shit. My wife wanted you gone immediately. She refused to raise any outside kids.”
