“Fuck you and that wall.”
“How many more times do I have to tell you no? That food though… I didn’t throw the shit, so I’m not cleaning it up. Act like you got some home training and clean the mess you made. They teach shit like that in kindergarten.” I was popping my shit right now. This had become a defense mechanism toward him. He seemed to comprehend better when I spoke to him in his language.
“They also teach a nigga not to put his hands on a bitch, but I guess I missed that lesson.” His hand was around my throat before I could process what was going on and thrown against the wall. “I been letting you get off Brat, but you must think I’m one of them niggas that play ‘round like that. Stop fuckin’ talking to me crazy baby ‘cause you ain’t doing shit but putting inches on your grave. You eight feet in, don’t make it deeper. I’ll leave you at hell’s doorstep. You want it cleaned, then get the hell down there and do it. Stay the fuck out my way, Brat.” This wasn’t the same Black that I’d been around for the past couple days. This was a stone-cold killer speaking to me, and if I wasn’t careful, I’d be writing a check my ass couldn’t cash.
Shit. Cheyonne, you can’t be so aggressive with him if you planned on following through with your bright idea. Talking shit isn’t the best thing right now. You have to butter his ass up so good, he’ll forget why he’s here.
“You’re that upset with me that you’re laying hands on me now? I offended you, that’s evident. However, it wasn’t intentional. In the kitchen, I was caught off guard and that’s justthat. We don’t know a thing about each other, but you want to fuck. At least ask me for a list of allergies or my favorite color,” I responded. This was my only defense to get him to calm down.
My heart was beating out my chest at this point, but I needed to swing this situation to my favor. Much like him, I didn’t care to know him for real, but if this was the direction I had to go, then so be it.
His grip loosened as his eyes softened. He could be a real asshole, but I noticed that wasn’t how he wanted to treat me for real. Aggravation might’ve found him more than it should’ve when it came to me, but he was on his feet like lightening trying to help me every chance he got. Maybe in a different time and place, he would be a man of interest.
For the first time since he’d been here, he went quiet. He went to step around me when I latched onto the side of his shirt. “Since you’re here, can you help me to the bed?”
Without saying a word, he scooped me up in his arms and finished the walk for me. I held onto him inhaling his scent the same he’d done me in the kitchen. Smelling my products on him felt weird but I understood why he took me in the way he did in the kitchen. I was placed down gently on the bed and left alone. He left me right in there by myself as if I was some child that was in time out. He didn’t care to be around me.
Looking down at the mess, I scoffed while shaking my head. I then snatched the pill bottle off the nightstand and popped the required dosage. Since there was nothing to do besides watch tv or read, I went with the latter until the meds put me down.
I was in the middle of readingPermission to Feelby Connie Easton and as soon as I picked it up, I remembered why I put it down. The things Old Man Drake and Orianna did had me hot and bothered. The age gap didn’t make a difference when it came to the way he devoured that poor girl. He was a munch, and I applauded my girl for getting a rich certified eater!
Placingthe salmon in the creamy sauce, I covered it so it could finish cooking for another five to ten minutes. Black had complained about my rabbit food time and time again, so I figured before calling the people on him, I’d feed him properly. I could make his last few hours’ worth the wild.
“Black. Black!” I shouted for him.
Dinner was ready, and I was hoping he didn’t carry the same animosity toward me as he did yesterday. The emotions were high, and nothing was really discussed after the kitchen incident. We’d been avoiding each other all day. I woke up feeling a hundred times better than I did on day one and was moving around without the crutch now.
He entered the kitchen dressed in another pair of my clothes. My adidas sweats and t-shirt fit him comfortably. His frame rested against the door frame as he eyed me with those same cold eyes.
“What Brat?” There was no emotion behind his words.
“I made Tuscan salmon and garlic mashed potatoes. Will you join me for dinner? That’s the least you can do, right?” I inquired wearing a smile. I felt good but it was clear he wasn’t feeling me.
He gave me a blank stare, and I instantly felt like he didn’t care to be bothered with me at all. Surprisingly, we were more distant now than we’d been since he bombarded his way in here.
“I’m cool,” he said and turned to walk away.
“What’s the reason, Black? I’m assuming you used me for a place to lay low and make your transaction. The deal is done and there’s no use for me anymore, right?” I wasn’t a rocket scientist, so it didn’t take much for me to put two and two together. Forsome strange reason, my feelings were hurt. Normally, he had something to say even if it was about my disorder.
My remark caused him to halt his steps. He turned around and slowly made his way toward me. Black was so close to me I could smell the mint toothpaste on his breath. One thing I could say, he was a man that took care of his hygiene despite him being in a place where nothing belonged to him.
“What’s what reason, Brat?” His tone was calm as his hands rested in his pockets.
I had the pleasure to look up to him and the tattoo on his Adam’s apple was of a crown. It looked good on him. It even had color in the gems. The admiration of his features and height was what had my attention. He honestly reminded me of someone.
“Why are you still here? Why haven’t you left?” I was looking for an honest answer from him. I didn’t know why. I just was.
“I had every intention to leave, but I thought about yo’ crippled ass and your hardships. That shit would weigh on my conscious if something happened to you when I could’ve been here to help.”
You want to be icy so bad but you’re just a fuckin’ teddy bear. Why are you caring about me Black? I’m not your woman.
The nerve of this man to care for me but hurt that poor security guard when he was just doing his job. Waiting for him to leave meant the guard couldn’t get the justice he deserved. There was no telling where Black would go once he left here and I wasn’t chancing it. He used me for shelter so why not let him use me one last time. Take one for the team and send his ass to jail. My mind was made up.
“Is eating with me too much for you?”
“I’m cool on that and you,” he replied.
“Well, I’m not. Sit, and eat with me.” I grabbed him by the wrist to escort him to the table and found myself in another situation where his gun was to my head.
