Kit wrinkled his nose. “Perv.”
“You wish.” I giggled, even though my face was suddenly on fire. I was curious, though. About the two of them and how they, well, you know.Had sex. “Can I ask you both a question?”
“Sure.” Ollie popped another piece of popcorn into Kit’s mouth. “Fire away, Jones. You know that I’m an open book.”
I tried to ignore the way Kit was shooting daggers at me. He didn’t trust me very much. “You’ve been intimate, right?” My entire body was on fire as I heard myself speak.
“Don’t you dare!” Kit exclaimed, jumping from the couch and stalking over to where I sat. “That’s none of yourfucking business, Matthews. I don’t talk about shit like that with anyone, never mind you.” His face was so close to mine I could feel the heat of his breath against my face.
I tried to shrink away. “I didn’t... I was just... I was curious.” My voice trembled as I spoke.
“Kitten.” Ollie sighed and climbed to his feet.
Kit whirled around. “No. Don’t you dare stick up for him. No one has the right to ask that sort of question. I don’t care if he’s curious or whatever. What you and I do in our bed, without anyone around, is between us. Us, Ols, and I won’t let him taint that.”
“I wasn’t trying to taint anything.”
Ollie stared down at Kit, his hand coming up to cup his neck. I grimaced when Kit pushed him away, slapping at his chest with enough force that my best friend stumbled.
“No, Ollie, not this time. You’re not going to touch or kiss me to make everything better.” He stomped out of the room, and I flinched when I heard the bedroom door slam.
Shoot. “It’s my fault. I’m so sorry,” I whispered.
“It’s not you.” Ollie grabbed the remote and stopped the movie. He sighed softly as he sat down next to me. “I can’t get into details, but Kit didn’t have the best life growing up. His father wasn’t the best parent, and well, he was taught that feelings make him weak. That he had to man up and never show anyone how he truly felt.”
I touched his arm. “But Kit has you now. You’re a good person.” I hoped that Kit wasn’t listening in on our conversation. He would be so upset if he knew we were talking about him. “Ollie don’t say anything else. It’s between you and Kit. He was right. It’s none of my business.I won’t ask about what goes on between the two of you again.”
Ollie gave me a small smile. “I should go check on Kit.”
“I completely understand.” I stood up, prepared to go to bed and to give them some privacy.
Ollie gave me a quick hug and clapped me on the back. “Smile! You’re getting married tomorrow, Jones.” He winked, then left me alone in the living room. I decided to take a shower and get ready for bed since I had a big day ahead of me tomorrow.
***
Once I was dried off, I wrapped a towel around my waist and went back into the guestroom. It was oddly quiet in Ollie’s house, and I wondered if he and Kit had gone to bed. I hoped that they made up. The last thing I wanted was to ruin things between them. I was changing into my pajamas when I heard the soft moan and what sounded like a headboard hitting the wall.
Oh, oh no... They weren’t having sex right now, were they?
“Fuck, Ollie, harder.”
Oh, they absolutely were, and I felt myself blush from my toes up to the tips of my ears. I dug around in my bag, found a pair of headphones, and shoved them on, putting on one of my favorite podcasts, “The Dale Junior Download”, to drown out the noise.
Jones:Ollie and Kit are having sex with me in the house. I can hear them!
Charlie: That’s not awkward or anything.
Jones:I’m so embarrassed.
Charlie:Why? Because they’re enjoying themselves? Bashful, you have nothing to be embarrassed about. Sex is beautiful. Don’t you like it when I’m inside of you?
My skin was on fire again. I loved the way it felt when Charlie and I were together. How he knew exactly how to make my body come alive, the way he touched me and made me feel wanted. Sex wasn’t anything to be embarrassed about. It was something to cherish. That didn’t mean I wanted to hear my best friend with his boyfriend.
Jones:I love it.
Charlie:Me, too, Jonesy.
Charlie:I miss you. I can’t wait to marry you tomorrow.
