I don’t think I help her concentration at all, because when she hits the cue ball, she misses the one she was aiming for and cuts her eyes to me. “You were purposely distracting me!”
I pot the last ball, and a grin spreads across my face. Paloma is leaning against the table, her arms across her chest as she releases a breathy chuckle. “Unbelievable. You are already a professional and world-renowned golfer. You donotneed me to tell you you're the best at this silly game.”
As she picks up our pool sticks and puts them away, crowding into her space, I lower my voice, “So you are telling me you won’t adhere to our bet?” This time she does admit my pool superiority, but she grumbles under her breath. “Oh, I think I missed that. Can you say it again?”
“Fine.” She uncrosses her arms, looks me straight in the eyes and says loud enough for everyone to hear, “You are the reigning pool god, Clinton Morrison!”
“I think I like Golf Daddy better.” She giggles at my comment.
“I’ll go grab another pitcher. Don’t go sneaking off,” she says pointing her finger at my chest.
“I wouldn’t dream of it, Dove.”

Chuck:This is painful to watch.
Lou:Hilarious, though. Pure comedy gold in slow motion.
Chuck:It’s like they’re trying to flirt in a language they barely speak.
Lou:Wrong words, wrong timing—points for effort, at least.

Is everything okay?
Cass
Yeah babe. You good?
Paloma
No
Yes
I don’t know.
What I do know is, I need my girls.
Janelle
I’ve got a lazy night off, so video call me in.
Bri
I’ll order the Chinese.
Even Janelle ordered in bourbon chicken and lo mein to make sure she was fully a part of the night despite being stationed out of town. I know she loves the Army, but damn, do I miss her being home. Having reconnected after Cassidy ran into her at our high school reunion, we’ve not had enough time, and I’m already counting down the days until we have our cabin trip next year. Brianna and Cassidy are bundled up with a blanket as we enjoy our takeout.
