“Mitch,” Lexie breathed. “Oh, God, right there.”

He had shifted his hips to the side a bit, the new angle apparently very good for his partner.

“You almost there?” He asked through gritted teeth. His balls had tightened near to the point of bursting, and he’d be spilling himself into her in a few more thrusts.

Her head bobbed as she nodded and said, “Give me your hand.”

Their position made it nearly impossible, but Mitch would do anything to satisfy this woman, so he wedged his hand between her thigh and the counter, deftly finding her clit and pressing hard against it, moving in tight circles.

“Mitch, I—” her sentence was cut off by a half cry, half moan as her second orgasm barreled through her, and that clenching around his dick and her tiny, jerky spasms had his own bursting free. He draped his body over hers, resting his hands on either side of her torso as he emptied himself.

Lexie laid her head on the counter, body rising and falling below him, her back meeting his chest with every inhale.

When he pulled free, she said, “We should do that more often.”

Mitch turned and ripped off a length of paper towel from the roll, using it to clean her up. She lifted herself when he was done and turned to face him. “It was one of my better ideas,” he responded with a smirk.

“I’m surprised that’s the first time we’ve fucked in here.” She bent to collect her underwear and shirt from the floor.

“Me too,” he said, and followed her as she moved from the kitchen and down the hall toward his room.

“I could go for a nap,” Lexie yawned, slipping the shirt back over her head but foregoing her panties before crawling under his puffy, deep blue comforter.

Sliding in beside her, he wrapped an arm around her, pulling her close and closed his eyes.

“Wanna go again?” she asked.

Mitch cracked an eyelid to look at her. “Didn’t you just say you could go for a nap?”

In response, Lexie simply trailed her fingers in a path down his torso toward his cock, which was already half hard again.

He couldn’t and wouldn’t ever say no to this woman.

Reaching out, he pulled her on top, and she lowered herself onto him, that t-shirt of his bunched around her waist. The sun had just cracked the horizon, the fresh rays of a new day spilling light across Lexie’s bare legs, setting them glowing. Mitch caught her gaze, the moment stretching between them. Mitch didn’t move, and neither did Lexie. She simply stared at him, some emotion Mitch couldn’t quite name passing over her features, softening them, her eyes shining brighter than normal in the dawning morning light.

And when she finally did begin to move, that emotion morphed into something Mitchcouldname: adoration.

The recognition of it on the face of this woman who rarely shared exactly how she felt withanyone, least of all him, unlocked something in Mitch’s chest and the quiet moment passed. It transformed into something that set his heart galloping as he pumped his hips up to meet her, his release barreling down his spine far sooner than he anticipated, unexpectedly throwing him off a cliff.

What surprised Mitch even more was the fact that she followed him right off that ledge, wrapping her arms tight around his neck and burying her face against his skin as she panted and twitched through the shockwaves.

“What the hell just happened?” she whispered in a daze when their shuddering ceased. “I have never come from just penetration before.”

“I…” Mitch broke off, throat clogged with something he wasn’t ready to reveal to Lexie quite yet.

Because he was falling in love with her, and had realized it as soon as he pressed into her minutes ago. He was falling for this girl, who was so incredibly smart, funny, loyal, sassy, and a slew of other things that would take Mitch days to articulate, but also guarded her heart like it was as fragile as a newborn baby.

And to her, he supposed it was. He had to tread carefully here; the last thing he wanted to do was scare her away.

Everything between them had changed after Dallas, even if Lexie continued to bury her head in the sand. That night, which was basically their first date, Mitch’s feelings for her morphed from a magnetic sexual attraction to something softer, something more enduring. Physical connections were fleeting, but the tiny ball ofsomethingthat had lodged itself in his chest that night only grew by the day. Lexie was dangerously close to capturing his entire heart, and he’d gladly give it to her, but not at the risk of getting nothing in return.

Not after spending his childhood giving his love to a parent who couldn’t have cared less about him.

She rolled off him, and he pulled her close, clamping an arm tight around her, lest she try to run away before they could talk.

“Lex,” he began, and she groaned.

“Can’t you just let me enjoy this bliss for a few minutes before you go and get all serious on me?” she asked.
