She was all, and he was all, and this was all she’d ever wanted.

Panting, heat, and thumping heart beats. The whole of everything reduced and refined to where his flesh connected with hers.

Then, the maddening rasp of his shirt hem rubbing against her back, reminded her there were still barriers between them. There was still room to get closer. “Take your shirt off.”

He ignored her.

“Please. Pretty, pretty please.”

It still stayed on. Probably, he was too caught up in the spell they’d woven to think of his shirt. Alle’s breaths were coming fast, but his were raw. They blistered the back of her neck.

“You feel so fucking good. So damned fucking good, Alle.” His words were shaky, as if sheered from off the side of his soul.

She felt it too, that perfection. The connection between them. Always had done. Despite the resistance he’d put up, Spook had always felt like the perfect key for her lock.

“I’m going to come. I’m gonna come. I’m so sorry. Just…can’t…stop.”

Nor did she wish him to.

“Feels so, damn…fucking…right.”

He wasn’t wrong.

It was hard to say who flew first, whether one spark ignited the other, or if the world just decided to finally cut them a fucking break.

Atoms collided. They spun in a vortex. Alle felt the pulse of him, the arch of his back before he spat out her name like it’d been pulled from the depths of his viscera. Even as he did, she arched her own spine and the force of her own climax ripped through her, filling her lips and nose with tingles, before melting away and leaving her grinning like an idiot as she sagged against the sofa back. Spook cuddled up close behind her. Him softening, but their bodies still joined.

Based on the dampness of her shoulder, she guessed he was crying. “You okay, baby?”

“I’m real good,” he drawled into her skin. “My body’s just a little unsure of what to do with itself. Give me a moment.”

“Take as many as you like.”

He wiped his face.

“You’re a pretty epic shag, you know.”

He chuckled into her shoulder, before pressing his lips there, then peeling them apart. “You too, lady. You too.”

Alle watched him tie off the condom and chuck it in the fire.

“Do you want kids someday?” she asked.

“Dunno, never thought about it.”

“Guess it wasn’t something you needed to think about this last decade.”

He returned to the sofa, stretching out alongside her so they were face to face. “Do you?”

“Eventually. Probably. Definitely not soon.”

“Better put a bulk order in for more party hats.”

“You’re not suddenly going to decide shagging’s not for you again?”

“Hey.” He poked her good naturedly.

Alle tugged his shirt up, seeking bare skin to rest her head against. His heart was still racing in the way it’d done when they first slammed together. He might be smiling and holding her tight, but no amount of blistering heat and connectedness between them seemed capable of eradicating his fears. The tension in his body remained, like a core of unbending steel wired to his skeleton.
