She winced. “Oooh.” She took my hand and placed it on her belly. “Emma is moving.”

I lost my breath when I felt her kick. We’d decided on the name Emma Anne Hart, a tribute to Fallyn’s mom. While I wasn’t hung up on names, I loved that Fallyn lit up when she said “Emma Anne.”

I grabbed her hand. “I have a surprise for you, Mrs. Hart.”

“Please tell me it involves sex,” she said as she followed on my heels through the beach house and into the kitchen.

“Patience,” I teased as I lifted her onto the white marble island.

“Are you going to cook for me? Oooh, bacon? I have a craving for maple and jalapeño bacon.”

I wished I could say I was a good cook, but I’d never made a dish of anything. I went over to the pantry, where I’d hurriedly stuffed the gift I’d purchased yesterday from a shop in town while Fallyn had stayed behind to take a nap.

I pulled out the pink bag and handed it to her.

She regarded me with hesitation. “What’s this for?”

I settled between her legs. “For loving me. For marrying me. For everything. I love you, Fallyn. There shouldn’t be a reason to give my beautiful bride a gift. I saw it and thought it was perfect.”

She removed the velvet box, biting her bottom lip, easing the box open as if what was inside was about to jump out at her. When she laid eyes on the contents, she pressed her fingers to her mouth.

I took out the necklace, which had a charm with baby feet and two stones. “They’re topaz, since that’s the December birthstone and Emma is due on Christmas.”

She threw her arms around me. “How did I get so lucky?”

“I’m the one who is lucky.” I brushed my lips over hers. “You’re the best thing that has happened to me.”

She crashed her mouth to mine, and our tongues tangled in a passionate kiss.

I got lost in us, her beauty, and the way she made me feel both physically and emotionally. She tasted of heaven and home, of freedom and bliss. I knew with her at my side that I would realize everything I’d wanted for myself, for her, and for us. We were two halves of a whole, and in each other’s arms, we were complete.

The end.
