“I’m going to need you to use more words than that. Because we just fucked and now, you’re acting like you can’t get away from me fast enough, and I’m starting to feel a little bruised over it.”

“What? Why? I assumed this was the end game. We fuck. You get your fantasy. I get to have somereallygood sex and then it’s out of our systems. Right?”

I stare at her for a minute, realizing how differently we’d been viewing this whole situation. Even though in the back of my head I’d been waiting on her to pull the plug, my stupid heart had been hoping somehow I’d have a magic dick that would convince her not to. Guess I had the answer to that.

“We agree when it comes to me getting a fantasy and really good sex, but the rest of it not so much. I like you, Violet. Whether we’re fucking or watching TV. But you’re definitely not out of my system.” I didn’t think she would ever be, but now wasn’t the time for that discussion.

“I just don’t want it to get awkward.”

“Then come back to bed, watch something with me, or talk to me. But I want you to stay.”

Her hand drops from the door handle, and I feel like I can breathe again.

“Are you sure? I really am good. You don’t need to worry.”

“Yeah? Well, I’m not good. I want you back in my bed. And I want you to stay there for the rest of the night. What we do is up to you, but—“

She stops me with a kiss, it’s a little hesitant but she smiles when she pulls away. “Okay, bossy.”

I grin and pull her down onto the bed with me, kissing her as we fall. I don’t care if I live on borrowed time with her, as long as I get more of it.

Violet

“Violet!!”I hear Joss whisper screaming from across the room. I must be in a nightmare because she sounds panicked. She’s telling me Cameron’s here and I need to get up. But it’s impossible since he’s in Europe and I’m in my apartment in my bed thousands of miles away.

“Violet, I’m fucking serious, girl. Get your ass up!”

Her voice is insistent, and it feels so real it actually wakes me out of my sleep. I have to blink a few times because I don’t recognize my sheets or my room.

“Fucking finally. Cameron is here. I’ve got him waiting outside the door because I told him I didn’t know if you were here, and I wasn’t letting him in if you weren’t. I need you to tell me what you want me to do. But, oh. Oh shit. Yeah, you need to get out of this room and out of that…” Joss waves her hand over my form like all of me is problematic.

“Cameron?” I ask, still trying to process what she’s saying.

“Christ, that boy did fuck your brains out. Yes. Cameron. The man you were going to marry until he was an asshole? I don’t know how or why, but he’s at the door right now. What do you want me to do?”

I sit up abruptly, my heart fucking racing. Remembering last night. Realizing I’m still in his room. I remembered him waking me, telling me he was going for a run. That he’d be back with a late breakfast.

“What time is it?”

“10 a.m.”

“Fuck. Ben should be back soon.”

“Oh god. I have too much of a hangover for fireworks. At least your boy is chill though, even if Cameron isn’t.”

“I have to change. I have to shower. Fuck.” I stand up, shoving the jersey down because I’ve just remembered thanks to the cool gust of air that I don’t have panties on.

“Get a change of clothes and get in the bathroom. Then I’ll set Cameron up in the living room and keep an eye on him. Tell him you woke up late. I suggest inventing a reason that isn’t getting railed by your hot new roommate.”

“I don’t owe him any explanation.”

“No, but that won’t change the fact he’ll ask, and you’ll want to answer.”

She had a point.

“Get your ass going, before he starts wondering what the fuck is going on.”
