He traveled to the bathroom in search of her, thinking she might have decided to take a late-night shower or possibly alleviate her bladder. His eyes scanned the bathroom, and again, there were no signs of her.

“What the fuck?” He screwed his face up as he continued to search the entire suite. He even went out to the balcony to see if she was enjoying the view of the beach, but she wasn’t there either.

Still confused about where she could have possibly gone so late at night, he trekked back to the bedroom and noticed her Louis Vuitton tote was still on the nightstand. Inside her bag,he found her wallet, but her car keys were nowhere to be found. He didn’t think it made any sense for her to leave her purse and wallet behind, so he reached into his front pocket and pulled out his phone. He was quick to dial her number, and once the call began to ring, he could hear her phone go off within the suite. He tracked down her ringing cellphone and found it on the counter in the kitchen area. Shit wasn’t adding up, and as much as he didn’t want to worry, he couldn’t help but to be concerned.

Kross grabbed his keys, exiting the suite to head down to the lobby. When he approached the front desk, he leaned against it and spoke to the receptionist. “Excuse me. I’m in room 2906. I was wondering if my girl may have booked a spa service or anything like that?” Kross didn’t want to jump the gun and say Remedy was missing, so he was trying to figure out anything she could’ve gotten into while he was gone.

The woman typed away on her computer to see if there were any spa services booked for the room. “No, I’m not seeing anything was scheduled. The spa closes at seven.” She shook her head.

There wouldn’t have been any way Remedy would have gone to the spa since Kross left her in the suite after seven. He racked his brain, trying his best to figure out his next move. There was no way in hell Remedy would have left her purse, wallet, and phone behind in the suite, so something was up.

“Were there any calls made from the room or to her at all?” he asked.

The woman behind the desk could see the worry that was beginning to set in on Kross’ face, so she quickly began typing away on her computer again.

“We had a call for room service earlier in the day,” she advised him, which he was already aware of since he and Remedy ate together. “The last call I see here is a towing alert.Looks like we had to notify her that her vehicle was getting towed.”

Kross screwed his face up. “The fuck was her car getting towed for?” It explained why her car keys weren’t upstairs.

“I’m sorry, sir, but I’m just going off the notes on the reservation, and it doesn’t detail why. Have you tried asking her?”

“I can’t fucking find her,” Kross stressed. “She left her phone and bag in the suite.”

“Do you need us to contact authorities?” She quickly began reaching for the phone on the desk.

Kross shook his head. “You can’t run the cameras back for me, just so I can see where she might’ve went?”

“Unfortunately, no, not without the authorities present.”

“C’mon. I don’t wanna get into all that without knowing if this shit is serious. Just run me this favor, and I’ll be out of your way.”

He reached into his pocket and extracted a stack of hundreds, ready to pay her off however much she wanted. The last thing he needed was the Feds getting tied into this shit if it wasn’t necessary. There were still other possibilities of where Remedy could have gone, like the beach, the bar, or the pool. He just needed to see what happened from the time that he left to now.

She bit down on her bottom lip in deep contemplation, debating whether she should bend the rules for Kross. Seeing how concerned and worried he was about Remedy made her navigate to the cameras and run them back without taking any money from him.

“We don’t have any cameras in the parking garage, so the best I could do is anywhere inside the property. What does she look like?”

“Nothing but five-five, brown-skinned, long black hair,” he rattled out, hoping it would be easy to pinpoint Remedy in the footage. “I left around nine tonight, so look at anything after that.”

She skimmed through the footage for a while before turning the monitor for Kross to see. He was able to see Remedy walk down the hall from their suite and get into the elevator. When Koss left, she was in nothing but the hotel robe, but in the cameras, she was dressed in a matching two-piece athleisure set. The next clip of footage was of Remedy in the elevator before it opened to the lobby.

“This is around the time it was noted in the reservation that we got a tow alert, which explains why she looked to be in such a rush,” the woman explained as they watched Remedy hastily walk out the elevator.

Kross continued to watch the next set of cameras in the lobby. He noticed as Remedy walked toward the exit of the hotel, she was snatched up by her arm. She tried pulling away from the man who grabbed her, but it was clear that she wasn’t trying to make too much of a scene. The grainy surveillance footage and the darkness didn’t allow Kross to pick up exactly who the man was, but from what he could see, the man was tall and had dreads. They were in Miami. All these niggas had dreads, so those details served him nothing.

“Sir, I think it’ll be best to have the authorities look into this, especially since she’s been gone for almost two hours now,” the woman behind the desk suggested, now concerned herself since she now saw Remedy get snatched up on camera.

Kross ran a hand down his face before shaking his head. Just from the footage, Kross knew it had to be Remedy’s ex. She swore that she stopped fucking with him, but it was clear that he wasn’t going for that. He didn’t have a clue what the fuck wasgoing on, but he knew he didn’t want the Feds involved. He was going to see about this nigga himself.

“Nah, don’t worry about it,” he assured. “I’ll find her.”

“Sir, are you sure? I think this is a?”

Kross interjected by sitting a few hundred-dollar bills in her hand. “This is for your troubles. ‘Preciate you for looking into it,” was all he told her before heading back to the suite. He cleared it out and grabbed all his things, along with Remedy’s, before leaving The Setai.

Chapter Twenty-Six

“Fix your face,” Remedy heard Kross say to her as he craned down and attempted to get a kiss.
