“Okay, so you know who I am.” I nod and look around the deli once more, making sure Malik isn’t lurking in a darkened corner.

“Of course I do. I would be able to tell the difference between my lover and his brother.” I finally look back at her and her brow lifts in challenge as her red-painted lips curve upward in a taunting grin. Her pink-painted nails drum along the surface of the table as I let her words pierce through my heart like shards of glass.

Not because she can tell the difference, that part is actually a relief. It was the lover part that’s done a number on the organ resting inside my chest.

“I need to know that you’re safe,” I say as I clear my throat, pushing past the emotion welling inside of me.

She leans across the table as her hair swoops over her shoulders and sends a scent of something floral over me. “From your brother or mine?”

“What happened the night Vic died?” I ignore her question and cut straight to the chase, even though the quick flick of agony in her eyes makes me nearly regret asking the question.

“You would take my word over yourPresident’s?” she sneers then snorts as she rolls her eyes. “It’s been months, I could’ve been raped or killed, left in the fucking desert. Why are you coming around now?”

Is it possible to be in a dangerous position with your life on the line and still have your cock hardening in a split second? The answer is yes. Absolutely yes.

I stir in my seat and look over my shoulder again, making her laugh, the sound like silk as it brushes over my face. “As you know, the clubhouse has been destroyed.” I give her a pointed look and nearly grin when she giggles, the sound manic as she relaxes in her seat. “The men needed me there to help pick up the pieces.”

“Before that?” She tips her head to the side. “What about the day after I wastaken? Because that’s what happened, Laith. I was taken.”

“We were told something different, and Quinton was his witness,” I explain as she lets out a sarcastic scoff. “But he’s finally told me the truth, or what I suspect is the truth based on the effects of his guilty conscience these last few days.”

“The spineless shit deserves whatever is coming for him, my brother included,” she snarls as her fist hits the table, the sound jarring me from my thoughts. “Both of them handed me over to the enemy, knowing how I would be treated by them.”

“How were you treated? What happened?” I implore her to tell me, hoping she will give in and leave here with me today. “You don’t have to stay with them, come with me.” I shatter my pride as I beg her to consider her safety. I hope she can see the sincerity in my eyes.

She stands up and pulls a twenty-dollar bill out of her pocket, tossing it on the table. “Get away from the Steel Dragons, Laith. This will be my one and only warning to you. I’m about to burn it all to the ground, the men included, and as much as it would pain me to see you standing with them, it won’t stop me in the end. So, leave now while you still can.”

“I can’t leave my brothers,” I reply with a scoff. “Genni—”

“Don’t call me that!” she hisses and leans onto the table, putting her face an inch from mine. “Be smart, heed my warning.” Then she stands up and turns, heading toward the door before she turns back around to say over everyone’s heads, “Stop following me.”

The strip club’s neon lights cast a hot pink glow onto the pavement out front, illuminating the lust on all the men’s faces as they wait in line to see the type of girls they could only ever jack off to. If they’re lucky, a stripper will rub their ass on them for a few minutes until they come in their pants like fucking adolescents.

I step up to the bouncer and bump his fist with my own as he opens the door and lets me in with a nod. The music assaults my eardrums as soon as the metal slab is ajar, the booming base quaking my insides as I walk in.

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been by for a money pick up and Chino has been neglecting his duties here since he’s been trying to find his balls at the bottom of every bottle. So like all his other neglected tasks, I’ve had to add it to my list of shit to do, and it’s been hard to keep my visits regular.

With the need to assert our ownership here and get my cock wet, I head to the back to find Trevor and then Angel. Trevor is a middle-aged accountant by day, with a wife and three kids, but at night, he runs Glitz for us. Vic wanted someone with money sense and a businessman exterior, and I have to admit, it was the right choice. Trevor doesn’t dip his dick into the girls, and no amount of bribes will make him chance getting his perfect businessman face kicked in.

I pass the dressing room filled with naked bitches and grin with the anticipation of walking in there and watching them fight over who will suck my cock first. They’re all looking for a big payoff, and I’m always ready to come on a pair of tits.

Trevor’s office door is about three feet ahead when I hear a girlish giggle behind me and turn to look over my shoulder. Carrie is standing at the open dressing room door, her naked full tits on display as she twists a lock of hair around her finger. She watches me with a sultry look on her face as she bites her bottom lip.

“Hey, Jaeger,” she husks out, her nipples pebbling at my perusal.

Chino has been neglecting her too it seems, and I may just rectify that for her tonight.

“Hey.” I give her a smirk as I stand in front of Trevor's door and rap the wood with my knuckles.

Carrie continues to stare at me, her eyes traveling the length of my body, one she’s well acquainted with, and then disappears back into the room.

“Come in,” Trevor calls out.

I walk into the office to find the fucking accountant with his glasses on and hitting a manual calculator, the buttons clicking, and the paper on his desk curling at the top.

“Numbers looking good?” I ask him. He barely looks up at me as he gives me a nod. “I’m here to grab the last two weeks' cut.”

“In the safe,” he mumbles as he continues punching numbers into the calculator. “Ten grand in one bag and thirty in the other. Ten is yours and the thirty was washed.”
