I didn’t realise how tired I was, but after a day in the sun—and that—I’m done.

I stay right where I am. Naked. Messy. Satisfied.

And I fall asleep.

There is no sleep in the next morning, the summer sunrise shining into the tent bright and early. I’m suddenly thankful for the fans we have set up in here now the sun is beating down on the canvas.

I honestly don’t know how Danielle lives like this. I mean I love camping, but nothing compares to sleeping in a proper bed and block out blinds. I feel like a pampered princess even thinking it. But man, my back hurts from sleeping on this mattress.

Lucas shifts next to me, turning to face me with a wide smile before pressing a kiss to my lips

“Good morning.” I say as I pull away.

“With you here, it is. But fuck, my back hurts. I’m either getting old or I’m way too used to my bed at home.” He rubs his spine.

“Yeah, probably just because you’re old.” I giggle as he pokes me in the ribs and starts to tickle me.

“Stop. Fine, fine. I submit. I’m the same. I think it’s definitely the mattress.” I pat the hard thing we slept on. “Although… my back could be sore for other reasons.” I glance pointedly at his morning wood.

“Well if that’s the reason, be prepared for it to ache.” He kisses me hard.

We eventually make our way down from the tent. Packing it up slowly as we go. I take one last shower before we pack that away too. We have our breakfast before we finish cleaning everything else up. We go for another drive along the beach before we head back home.

When we make it back to town, I realise why I am feeling so tired.

“Can we please stop for a coffee somewhere before we go home?” I beg.

“We have a machine at home?”

“I know. But I’m craving one of those fancy ones that Gloria’s does. Please.” I give him puppy dog eyes to try get my way. And because he secretly loves me, he pulls into Gloria’s.

We sit at one of the small tables that overlooks the beach while we wait for our coffees.

“Thank you so much for this weekend. I had so much fun. I really miss being outdoors like that.”

He rests his hand on my thigh. “You’re so welcome. I had fun too. Next, I’ll take you out on the boat.”

I go to say something but we’re interrupted by an attractive couple approaching the table.

A petite brunette with brown eyes, and a tall dark haired man who’s holding a phone to his ear.

“Lucas?” she stops in front of us, grinning.

He lights up. “Nicole!” He stands out of his chair and gives her a warm hug, and something softens in me at the way his hand rests protectively on her back.

Lucas looks to the man next to Nicole. “Derick.” The man whom I’m assuming is Derick, just gives Lucas a nod before he points to his phone and turns away.

“Don’t worry about him, he’s on an “important phone call” apparently.”

She glances at me with open curiosity, then back at her brother.

“You going to introduce me or what?”

Lucas laughs. “Right—this is Camille. Camille this is Nicole. My baby sister.”

I smile and hold out my hand. “Nice to meet you.” She doesn’t shake it and gives me a hug instead.

“So you’re the one he hasn’t shut up about.”
